DescriptionEnvironmental EngineerEssential Duties and Responsibilities
Leading and overseeing water/wastewater engineering design
Providing design criteria for external engineering firms and review designs for accuracy and compliance
Applying innovative treatment processes to remove pollutants from water and wastewater, including emerging contaminants
Developing feasibility study, basis of design, and performance monitoring reports
Developing engineer’s construction cost estimates for treatment systems
Supporting permitting efforts with local, regional, and federal permitting agencies
Developing construction documents, including design drawings, specifications, bid forms, and startup plans
Conducting or overseeing field investigations and construction support services
Managing multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external stakeholders
Interacting with client representatives and regulatory agencies
Education
Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, with emphasis on water or wastewater treatment or closely related discipline. PE preferred but not required
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct environmental engineering experience
Experience leading and/or support water/wastewater treatment design projects
Experience with biological treatment system design
Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams
Proven leadership skills
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to facilities as needed
Experience working on a variety project types and in a variety of roles (e.g., project engineer and project manager) within an industrial water/wastewater environment
Experience in the design of systems to handle high strength nutrient loads in an industrial environment
