This opportunity will remain online based on business needs which may be before or after the specified date.The Government and Community Affairs team has local, regional, and national responsibilities. We help drive the business growth by working with government officials and staff to support GFiber expansion into new and existing metro areas. Our work seeks to demonstrate that GFiber is good for the communities we serve by investing in and amplifying the work of local nonprofit organizations.Role DescriptionAs our Government and Community Affairs Manager (GCAM), you’ll work as GFiber’s publicly-facing representative to communities and governments throughout the Southeast region, including Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. In this role, you’ll collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to develop new ways to inspire community action, partner with government officials, drive business growth, and promote social good for local residents. As part of this role, no one day will be the same as the other as in the morning you might be speaking publicly to local news and in the afternoon deep technical questions such as sales and geographical data to determine how we can build differently or make a philanthropic impact in the community. Throughout those days, you will lead with curiosity to uncover new opportunities for GFiber.In this role, you'll:

Manage relationships with government officials, leaders, and community organizations to assist the GFiber deployment and expansion process.

Act as the liaison on behalf of Google Fiber to community leaders, residents, and media; ensure that the needs of the local government and the local community are communicated to cross-­functional GFiber teams.

Handle PR and/or community-impacting escalation of issues (e.g. construction-related disruptions).

Drive and support partnerships that deliver business growth and digital inclusion, including investments and sponsorships that provide training and Internet access for communities impacted by the digital divide.

Lead on some national policy and community impact initiatives.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

6 years of experience working in local community, government, and/or government relations engagement/ leadership positions.

Experience driving highly visible strategic initiatives (e.g., transportation/community health plan, affordable housing initiatives, campaigns for policy changes, public-private partnerships, etc).

Ability to travel, in region, 30% of time.

Experience with building and fostering existing relationships within local governments in Georgia, Tennessee, and/or Alabama.

It's preferred if you have:

Direct experience working either in government or government relations, especially local government experience.

Experience working in Atlanta, Nashville, and/or Huntsville markets.

Experience in bringing technology and social change to underserved communities.

Ability to use written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to convey data and expertise, building lasting relationships and influence.

Ability to use and interpret data visualization tools (e.g. geographic, sales, building data) to derive insights and identify root cause issues.

Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure and industry standards.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000 - $157,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
