We are looking for a field researcher to use a digital camera to film pre-determined points within major highway junctions and large parts of the US interstate system. Our company supplies data for GPS navigation and mapping software, and the images you take will be used to create digitized images for the final software product. The camera will be mounted to the windshield of your car while you concentrate on driving. Heavy use of car is required, but this position is ideal for a self-motivated person who loves to travel.
There will be a paid training session in April or May. The research will begin immediately thereafter, and most likely last for 4-5 months, depending on the distance and number of junctions involved.
Salary, a daily automobile/maintenance stipend, a daily hotel/lodging stipend, and a monthly cell phone allowance will be paid, and gas and toll expenses will be reimbursed for the duration of the project.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
-A valid drivers license
-A reliable automobile with proof of current auto insurance
-Must pass a background check including DMV record
-An activated cellular phone for ease of communication from the field
-Able to read and understand maps and find specific locations in unfamiliar areas
-Natural sense of direction
-Basic technical savvy for operation of gadgets (camera and android tablet)
-Able to attend the training session and commit to the extent of the assignment (all of it on the road and away from home covering a large part of the US)
