Position DescriptionThe Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is seeking a Senior Planning Project Manager for our Transportation Planning group within the Engineering Division. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and supporting the development and implementation of system plans, corridor plans, and other special studies while supporting multiple phases of infrastructure design and delivery in coordination with NDOT staff along with local, regional, and state partners. They will also lead and supervise staff and consultant teams. Performs related duties as assigned.The Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) delivers a range of services, and the nearly 400 employees work around the clock to ensure a multimodal system that offers choice and better connects neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors to the place that they need and want to go to in a safe manner. These employees are responsible for over 2,200 miles of public roadways and rights-of-way, over 6,000 streets, over 300 bridges, 835 traffic signals and over 1,200 miles of bike/sidewalk lanes and much more. Big events in Nashville consist of CMA Festival, Stanley Cup Finals, Titans games, and any number of special events. These require big preparation and big clean-up and the Nashville Department of Transportation employees are up for the challenge. This is a position that is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and can telecommute. Typical Duties

Serves as the project manager, supervisor, or task leader for developing multimodal transportation plans, studies, policies, and guidelines.

Manages the work and performance of consultants against contracts to ensure completion of projects within scope, on-time, and within budget.

Supports project delivery, programming, and public engagement efforts.

Develops technical and other documentation in support of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and participate in contractor/consultant selection.

Represents NDOT while meeting with local agencies, partners, stakeholders at public project meetings and forums to facilitate implementation of plans, programs, and other initiatives.

Provides technical support to Metro’s Vision Zero Advisory Committee, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, and Traffic and Parking Commission.

Champions complete streets and transit village coordination across the department and community.

Leads policy development related to transportation/land use connection.

Provides traffic and/or travel-demand modeling competencies.

Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of planning experienceMaster's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of planning experience.LICENSES REQUIREDValid Drivers LicenseEmployees must register for the Metro Human Resources Supervisory Training Program prior to completion of the probationary period or work test and must complete all coursework within a 12-month period. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience following the principles, practices, and trends in community and urban planning, transportation planning, and urban design

Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to transportation planning and capital project development and delivery

Public process experience preparing and implementing plans and projects for a large city or municipality

Experience following project management best practices
