Ranch Hand/Farm Help - Horses

Vacancy expired!

Looking for a ranch hand to work either AM or PM shifts. The job is 5 days a week, 40 hours per week. The AM shift is from 7a-4p with a break at noon and the PM shift is from 11a-8p with a break at 5p. Rotating weekends off. Duties include mucking stalls, lots of cleaning, haying, feeding, doctoring, turning horses in and out, grooming & bathing, cleaning hooves, walking and lunging for exercise, scrubbing water buckets, blankets in the winter, fly masks, spraying horses with fly spray, and other ranch duties. Along with the care of horses, the other two focuses of this job are keeping everything clean and organized in the barns. This is a very tough, dirty job where you need to be physically capable and able to work in all elements (rain, shine, hot, cold). You will also get dirty and likely smell like horse manure at the end of each workday. Yay! We’re looking for someone mature. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of different horse breeds & donkeys and give them the best life. You will also get some good exercise (and maybe even a nice tan?) by just simply doing the work.

Someone who will excel in this role is clean, organized, and structured, loves animals, works well independently, ability to lift 50 lbs, has high energy, and wants to serve animals. If you love animals and the countryside, this is a very fulfilling role. Our ranch is a private horse sanctuary where our horses came from bad conditions so our philosophy is that they will live their best lives here until they ultimately pass. This is their last stop in their long lives and we want to give them the best in their final years. Animal care is very much a top priority. You must dig deep and ask yourself if you truly love animals. Bonus if you're handy and/or know how to use tools, drive a tractor, and skid steer.

Must have a valid DL and reliable transportation. Pay is $17 an hour to start and then $20 an hour after 3 months. After 3 months there is also an opportunity for free housing with utilities & water are also paid. You will be required to do a 3-5 day working interview to see if we are a good fit for you. After the working interview, you will be paid and be off for two days and during that time we will let you know if we think we’re a good fit for you. No horse experience is required. But we really do prefer that you have some hard labor experience as well as working outdoors. Willing to train people who can think, work indepently, take initiative, follow directions, work hard, and love animals, nature, and the countryside.

Please respond with your age, experience ranching or working with horses (if no experience why do you desire working at a ranch and serving horses), a resume and/or a bio about yourself, and a good phone number to reach you.
