Coil Repair Technician

Position Summary:

The Coil Repair Technician will be establishing and maintaining an MRI RF coil repair department within the company that supports the needs of the service department, on-demand requests from sales, and repairs from outside customers. Including evaluating, troubleshooting, and repairing the coils both electrically and mechanically.

Essential Duties:

Maintenance and repair of MRI coils

Maintenance and repair of RF electronic subassemblies (body hybrids, T/R switch, multicoil assemblies, etc.)

Performing testing and comprehensive component level troubleshooting.

Development of new stand-alone bench level test procedures for MRI coils

Providing technical assistance to sales or engineers in troubleshooting faults with coils when required

Design and build of test interfaces to test functionality of coils

Completion of quality documentation and detailed service records

Working with external repair vendors to establish repair relationships that increase coil lab efficiency and control costs

Sourcing replacement components, tools, and devices used in the coil repair process

Coordinating the test equipment calibration program

Housekeeping of the coil inventory and work areas

Support Quality initiatives as it pertains to the organization and the role

Education/Experience:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Associates of Science degree in Electronics (or related technical field or military field experience)

Knowledge of MRI RF coil repair, with three years of troubleshooting repair of RF electronics

Medical Imaging background

Competencies:

Competence in electrical troubleshooting

Knowledge of analog and digital electronics

Ability to learn maintenance and repair procedures from manuals

Ability to identify repair priorities

Good manual dexterity and basic mechanical aptitude

Quality through hole and surface mount soldering

Ability to source electrical and mechanical components

Experience in the use of bench test equipment: multimeters, power supplies, network analyzers, LC meters

Ability to read, interpret, and apply a wide variety of technical data including schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and technical specifications

Excellent attention to detail

Highly organized

Self-motivated

Able to work both as a team and independently

Exposure to CT/MRI Systems, radiation from the CT may be daily. The job may require travel by car or air within the United States.
