You will perform installations, backup, and recovery, and will work closely with managers on database capabilities and problems. You will play an important role in ensuring databases are available, performing properly, and secure. #LI-LO1Major Responsibilities:Level 1
Performs activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of databases and/or applications, ensuring they are available, performing properly, and secure with complete guidance from the senior DBA’s
Assist with database and/or middleware performance tuning
Performs installations, patching, code-migration, backup, and recovery
Provide user support actions such as changing passwords, configurations and troubleshoot simple issues
Monitors SR’s, ServiceNow Tickets, and other database monitoring and management tools for day-to-day health checks.
Works closely with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of databases and applications
Level 2
Performs installations, upgrades and patching, code-migration backup and recovery, security, and monitoring in a more independent manner with less help from senior DBA’s
Performs simple database and/or middleware performance tuning
Provides user support for actions such as changing passwords, configurations and troubleshoot more complex issues
Assists with application support teams to troubleshoot integration and other issues
Assists other DBA’s and infrastructure teams on OS, database, network, cloud and security issues
Confers with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of databases/applications of basic to intermediate scope
Works independently on SR updates, Service Now updates, and other database monitoring and management tools for day-to-day health checks resolutions.
Education and Experience Requirements:Level 1:
Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Level 2:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Build, install, and support various MS SQL Server environments meeting current technical and security standards
Help with regular system patching including operating system, database, application framework, and other layers
Knowledge of PowerShell scripting or other scripting languages to automate processes during deployment, operations, and maintenance
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service mentality.
Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, work well independently and with multiple teams, experience working in high-pressure environments, and able to meet deadlines.
Experience in Microsoft SQL database and SSRS/Power BI including but not limited to backups/restores, move/create databases, security, tuning, and query analysis
Experience monitoring systems, providing support, and developing ways to improve these systems
