Your Career

As a Palo Alto Networks Cortex Systems Engineering (SE) Specialist, you will be the expert for our Cortex Solutions portfolio, including Cortex XDR - Advanced Endpoint Protection, Investigations and Response, Analytics; XSOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation & Response) and Cortex Xpanse - Attack Surface Management. The Cortex SE works closely with Cortex Regional Sales Managers and Channel Business Managers, and the Palo Alto Networks Strata (Network) and Prisma (Cloud) teams on Cortex Opportunities; understanding customers business and technical needs relating to cyber security and taking a solutioning approach to develop the most secure customer outcomes and making every day safer and more secure.

Your Impact

  • The Cortex SE provides technical support to their sales and pre-sales counterparts on engagements with customers on everything Cortex related. This includes technical presentations, demonstrations, understanding customer requirements and architecting these to innovative Cortex solutions, proving Cortex technology through POC/POV and the like.

  • The Cortex SE plays a key role in understanding customer needs in order to generate and deliver winning proposals, contract bids, statements of work, and RFI/RFP responses. The SE takes ownership of customer product evaluations and advanced 'proof of concept' testing, either at the customer site or through Palo Alto Networks evaluation, testing and lab facilities, be that cloud-hosted virtual or physical.

  • As a cyber-security domain expert, the Cortex SE leads conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of and planning to take care of.

  • The Cortex SE works closely with their peers in the Palo Alto organisation, including Core/Network (Strata) Systems and Cloud (Prisma) Engineers and Specialists. The Cortex SE has an instrumental role to enable and support these SE’s and support them in customer and partner engagements.

  • The Cortex SE also works closely with Cortex partners, in conjunction with Cortex Channel Business Manager, with a view to change the way partners sell - to shift from selling products and features to services outcomes. The SE has an instrumental role to up-skill Cortex focused partners and assist in developing Partner service, solution and MSSP solutions.

  • The Cortex SE supports their peers in the local country, region and theatre, sharing knowledge, IP and possibly providing territory coverage within the region when additional resources are required

Qualifications

  • Strong cyber-security domain knowledge (5 years+), preferably SOC Management or Operations experience AND/OR End-point Security

  • Familiarity with Threat Hunting, malware, exploits, and ability to explain and demonstrate this

  • Hands-on experience with installing, configuring and integrating a complex Security solution in Windows and Linux environments

  • Experience with Public Cloud (IaaS), and understanding of functions like DevOps, DevSecOps, Shift-Left etc

  • Strong (3 years+) pre-sales skills, including strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, from IT technician to executive level technical decision-makers

  • Proven team player, able to share knowledge, enable and mentor peers and partners

  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop strong relationships with partners in the region at both technical and sales levels

  • Strong English language skills, both oral and written.

  • A Self-Starter, self-motivated and a quick learner with the ability to embrace change - the Cortex portfolio is always evolving and as a technical Specialist your expertise must be at the leading edge

  • BSCS or equivalent
