Hi,
I am a European, who has lived in Puerto Rico for a few years now. I have (along with my husband) a few businesses and ventures going on, and have more coming in the future.
I am looking for a personal assistant for around 10 hours per week for a lot of different odd jobs.
Let me start with the most important: Around 10 hours per week, at $15 per hour. This will most likely become full time at some point, if not in ll the odd jobs, then within one of the fields, as we have a lot of work coming up with all our venturers, provided you will be interested when that time comes, of course.
I posted a similar ad some months ago, but for personal reasons I abandoned looking for an assistant at that time - so if you think you applied back then, please let me know.
What are these odd jobs?
- We have a large piece of land in Adjuntas, so you shouldn't be shy about getting dirty, lifting and doing work in the woods, in the rain, and getting a little dirty and sweaty at times. We are still in the early development of this land, so there will be plenty of work in the coming months and years.
- More importantly, since I am still relatively new here and still learning Spanish, I also need someone, who isn't afraid to talk to locals, make phone calls of various kinds and/or go visit towns and areas where I need things done. For example, our land (25 acres) needs to be properly surveyed and I need help with this.
- But it's not all just farming. We travel a bit and I will also need help with looking after our apartment at times, when we are away, tending to 4 cats, 1 dog and 2 birds, whenever we aren't putting them in a pet hotel. You will occasionally also be coming with us on trips.
- Furthermore, we have a medical business and will need samples driven to/from providers, we need help with things at the office - both administrative and labor wise.
- It is also a great advantage if you know a little about computers and research, as I also will need you to find various grants, look for government help with farming, seek out anything and everything that could be of assistance to us, as this is an area where I don't have much expertise, and especially here in Puerto Rico.
- And lastly, we are involved in the Miss Universe pageant, and are also doing things here, so on top of everything else, you should also have an interest in this, if possible.
As you can see, the job is for someone who can do a little bit of it all, and should be very comfortable with Puerto Rico and the way things "work" here, which is still, something that holds me back a bit. It isn't important if you have a certain education or degree - but an eagerness and excitement to be involved in all this is certainly the most important thing - as well as a general curiosity about these things. Clearly, someone who likes farming, has an interest in it, comes from a farming background etc would be of great value. I understand that these are very different areas, and it is fine if you are not comfortable with all of them. But we will discuss this later.
I would prefer if you have a car, or access to one. Not that there will be a lot of individual driving, but occasionally there will be some things where driving is involved. We will naturally have reimbursements etc, whenever your vehicle is involved in the work.
I don't want to write too long a novel here, so please ask all the questions you might have. I love talking about all these things. I am gay, so be comfortable with this, please. You don't have to be gay yourself, but if you for any reason have any issues with this, the job is not for you.
