The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.Job Summary The Accountant II will oversee all aspects of financial processing, reporting, and record-keeping for multiple departments within Student Affairs. This role will work closely with department directors in a financial advisory role to ensure an in-depth understanding of all sources and uses of funds and to inform and coach on financial matters, policies, and procedures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage financial information and data across multiple departments within Student Affairs.

Obtain financial information from financial reporting systems to manage department funds at the budget and transaction-level detail.

Review Funds Available report to ensure funds available for cost centers.

Work closely with department directors and staff to meet their financial information needs by generating timely ad hoc and periodic management reports.

Work with ad sales to send invoices, collect payments, and mange collection processes for Student Publications department.

Input interdepartmental transfers for billing on campus departments for ad sales.

Reconcile ad sales monthly.

Run financial reports to understand and track financial and human resource information.

Prepare annual budget planning documents for multiple departments ensuring accurate funding sources and uses of funds.

Run and reconcile monthly financial statements for funded, unfunded Cost Centers and Projects (Grants). Oversee monthly reconciliation of ProCard logs by card holder.

Supplier Management and Purchasing Review.

Enter and track Budget transfers. Enter IDT Journal Entries and track from other departments.

Ensure sources and uses of funds are captured correctly to enable historical financial analysis.

Track Purchase Orders by vendor including encumbrances and remaining available funds. Resolve Accounts Payable issues.

Pursue and analyze data to recommend vendor changes and pricing improvement based on trend analysis.

Pursue and share new paths to financial data in other applications with cohorts within Division of Student Affairs.

Track fiscal year end deadlines and available funds utilization limitations.

Perform other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Two (2) years of previous experience working with financial information including annual planning, monthly reporting, account reconciliation and variance analysis.

Reconciliation and variance analysis or the equivalent experience.

Intermediate skills in MS Office 360 with a focus on Excel.

Aptitude to learn and master new software as needed for the role.

Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) years of previous experience working with financial information including annual planning, monthly reporting, account reconciliation and variance analysis.

Knowledge and experience in higher education.

Knowledge and experience in preparing ad hoc and periodic management financial reports.

Experience working with multiple sources and types of funds with different regulations and project periods.
