The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $69,000- 104,000 dependent on experience.
The importance of this role to Sabey Austin:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s safety policies and procedures. This role works closely with the Safety Director to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization by providing technical expertise, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with safety training and audits. The Safety Specialist will serve as a resource for all stakeholders, offering support and guidance on all matters related to environmental, health and safety.
Your contribution will likely be:
Assisting in the development, review, and implementation of safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
Performing routine inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Conducting risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls.
Supporting the coordination and facilitation of safety training programs, such as First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and proper handling of chemicals.
Maintaining records of safety inspections, accident investigations, and other compliance documentation, including the OSHA 300 log.
Assisting with the investigation of workplace incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
Providing guidance to employees and management on best practices for maintaining a safe work environment.
Collaborating with the Safety Director and HR in managing the Worker’s Compensation Program, including accident prevention and return-to-work programs.
Participating in the organization’s Safety Committee and contributing to the ongoing improvement of safety culture.
Staying informed of updates to local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure company policies are aligned with these changes.
Assisting with the preparation of safety reports and providing updates to the Safety Director on the status of safety initiatives.
Experience you will bring to the team
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
2+ years’ experience in safety management, safety coordination, safety engineering, and/or risk management in a relevant industry.
Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management practices and interpretation of OHSA and Workers Compensation regulations.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, without compromising quality of work
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Preferred Qualifications:
CSP, CIH, ARM and CHST certifications preferred.
