Looking for Guides (teachers) at an Alternative Education Center with two locations, Cedar Park and/or South Austin:
Guides must be focused on growing the next generation of mindful humans that are out of the box thinkers and community builders! The ideal Guide is a warm, thoughtful person that's supportive of a hands-on, self-paced environment fostering growth mindset and emotional intelligence. You understand how to implement engaging project based learning and student-guided learning with multi-age groups.
We are looking for Guides to lead between the hours of 10-2 in the following locations and days:
South Austin Mondays:
10-2pm
Cedar Park on Fridays:
10-2, possibly 10-4
Requirements of the Guide:
If leading a class: must submit an engaging, project-based curriculum outline a semester in advance
monthly mandatory one on one's and team meetings
mandatory training prior to the school year
(all requirements are paid time)
$18-$30/hr, depending on experience
Have a child between the ages of 5-18 that homeschool? They can join us, if they're a good fit in the community, they just need to join us for one trial day to ensure a great fit.
The ideal candidate has these characteristics:
Gentle demeanor, speech and approach with children.
Positive mindset, communication methods, and positive motivation strategies.
Ability to remain calm under stress in a sometimes busy atmosphere, especially with various children working on different projects at once, and providing assistance
Ability to assist groups of students in their learning activities, projects, and free time/outdoor activities
Ability to provide large group, small group and individual help and support to learners as needed
Other duties as assigned, as we are co-creating and evolving on a regular basis based on parent and student feedback.
A judgement-free approach to others rights to decide what’s best for themselves and their family, and uphold those families' approaches.
Ability to pass an extensive background check, fingerprinting and a clean driving abstract (if applicable)
