Job Description: Support Associate of Music School (full time)

"Maestro Stars Academy" - Music School – looking for 2 full time support staff: one shall be a native English speaker, and another who shall be bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Chinese.

The school is located in the area of Allandale, TX 78757

Reporting to: The Support Associate of Music School will report to site director

Salary Scale: Main scale starting from $25-35/hour

All staff appointed to the school are expected to contribute fully to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School. This may include evenings, Saturday and or Sunday duties. The richness of the school depends upon teachers who, for example, take pupils on site, or selected trips to concerts and the theatre, volunteering in the community, university visits amongst many other events. The school activities are run after school and fixtures take place in the main on 3:30 through 8:30 on week days, or on 9:30 am through 5:30 pm on weekend days, roughly. The School expects its staff to contribute whole-heartedly to school life by drawing upon their own interests and enthusiasms.

The main campus of the music school was founded a decade ago in other states and hundreds of students/pupil ever graduated from its program. This is a new site branch in Austin

The Music School - Maestro Stars Academy

The school is staffed full time by the Director of school and some part time teaching musicians/artists. There are currently 20 musical/vocal/instrumental instructors teaching over dozens of lessons per week in the main campus and they also support the provision of extra-curricular activities.

The School has a strong musical tradition. The Department runs a busy schedule of weekly rehearsals including Choir, Musical, vocal, Piano classes etc.

The school vocal/choir has been invited to perform in the Stanford University Memorial Church Christmas eve in year 2022, and 2023 continuously as the only music group invited. And its delegate team members have won some of the top national awards in Musical Theatre Competitions of America continuously in 2023 and 2024.

The school will arrange 1-2 major trips for musical competition or performance on field trip every year to California or New York. There are many other concerts and smaller recitals throughout the year in school and in the local and wider community. The school also hosts a number of musical days for Prep and Junior schools.

Main Responsibilities

∙ To support site director to implement the curricular Music across the school, fostering excellence in all that the department does

∙ To support the provision and administration of a rich and varied programme of extra curricular music

∙ To support Music staff within the school and link with other staff who cover classes.

∙ To ensure informative and regular contact with the parents of pupils/students

∙ To co-ordinate the running of the trip Concert and all musical events throughout the year, and liaise with other teaching and support staff to ensure those events run smoothly

∙ To coordinate the provision of music for services and assemblies

∙ To ensure there is excellent communication with parents, pupils and staff throughout the year groups from Reception (Primary 1) to Grade 12

Teaching and Learning

∙ Support teachers in the identification of the most effective teaching in Music.

∙ Monitor teaching and learning activities to ensure classroom order and smooth school day to day operation.

∙ Support site director to identify and teach study skills that will develop a pupil’s ability to work independently through encouragement and stretching targets.

Improvement Plan and Policies

In consultation with the Site Director and other members of the Senior Leadership Team draw up and revise regularly the following:

∙ A department teaching and learning policy

∙ A clear assessment policy for the identification of pupils with additional support needs, for setting and for the identification of gifted and talented

∙ An improvement plan for the Music department

Recording and Assessment

∙ Develop understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement for all pupils on an individual basis.

∙ Manage our tracking system to ensure accurate and appropriate feedback is given to the pupils and parents.

∙ Collect and interpret assessment data and ensure each individual pupil has clear guidance.

∙ Maintain and enhance systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing Music teaching.

∙ Update the Site Director alternative assessment arrangements.

∙ Keep parents and carers informed about their child's progress through regular reports, Parents’ meetings and appropriate communication.

Leadership

∙ Support site director to provide training opportunities for Music staff

∙ Monitor the quality of teaching and learning and disseminate good practice in the teaching of Music across the School.

∙ Develop links with other professionals, agencies, governors and neighboring schools.

∙ Liaise with Learning Support with respect to any specific Additional Support Needs issues or developments.

∙ In line with school policy on performance management attend performance review meetings; undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development and act as team leader for the performance management of Music teaching staff.

Budgets and Resources

∙ Identify resources needed to meet the needs of all Music pupils and submit this in good time to the Site Director (when requested) and manage the confirmed budget throughout the year.

∙ To support the site director who have the day-to-day responsibility for Music resources in the school and ensure they are well maintained and fit for purpose.

Public Relations and Liaison with Parents

∙ To be the first point of contact for parental queries and enquiries about Music matters in the school. And escalate to site director when necessary according to the scope of work (SOW) specification requirements

∙ To encourage and foster good lines of communication with parents in relation to Music.

∙ To assist the site director for Marketing in the promotion of the school.

Committees and Meetings

∙ To help the site director to schedule, coordinate and attend weekly Music department meetings.

∙ Meet with the site director or senior management staff termly to consider the Music curriculum and progress.

∙ To attend staff meeting and briefings and keep colleagues informed of Music matters.

Qualifications:

1. Diploma in business administration, office management, engineering, arts, music or a related field.

2. Prefer 1 or 2 years of experience in company administration, a plus if it is in an educational or arts-related environment. Fresh graduates are welcome too.

3. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor.

5. Proficiency in writing, and using google docs, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with any management software is a plus.

6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

7. Passion for music and a commitment to providing exceptional support to students, faculty, and staff.

8. Bilingual skill is a big plus
