Cook Position Available
The Scottish Rite Dorm, affectionately known as SRD, is an all-womens dormitory that has been serving the UT community since 1922. The dorm houses approximately 300 residents during the school year and provides a living experience for the girls that cannot be passed up. 19 meals a week including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are cooked in house and served buffet style. SRD offers great benefits after qualifying period that are hard to pass up such as vacation pay, sick time, comprehensive benefit plans. There is competitive pay for people with experience. We are looking for people that are opened minded, willing to work, and have good team work abilities. Also, need to have flexible hours and are willing to work weekends.
Cook Responsibilities:
Cook meals with precision and present them properly while staying inside the deadlines and FDA regulations.
Work with a wide variety of people as an organized team
Be able to help with next day food preparation
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc
Prepare food items consistently and in compliance with recipes, portioning, cooking and waste control guidelines according to our policies
Assists co-workers whenever possible
Responsible for cleaning and organizing Meat Walk-in
Work well within a team setting and alone
Able to cross-train into other areas of the kitchen
Able to perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Take direction with a positive attitude
To be able to perform basic knowledge of knife skills, cooking, labeling, cleaning duties
Skill Specifications
Knowledge of basic knife and equipment
Must have love and passion for food
Good Communications skills
Attention to detail and ability to problem solve
Ability to work under pressure
Good time management and organization skills
Ability to cook for 300 in a timely matter
Need to be able to stand for 8-10 hours
Willing to learn and take direction well
