Special Counsel has an immediate opening for a Law Clerk position in Austin, Texas Law students, JD's, and licensed attorneys are all encouraged to apply! Please view the project details below:
Start Date: Late May or Early June
Duration: Several weeks, with the potential for a longer-term engagement
Location: Austin, TX
Hours: 40 hrs/week
Pay:
o $26/hr for licensed attorneys (any state bar)
o $23/hr for unlicensed JDs
o $20/hr for upcoming 2L's and 3L's of any ABA accredited law school
REQUIRED SKILLS
Law degree, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
Hands on experience with Westlaw or Lexis
Familiarity and experience with ESI and eDiscovery tools
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging
PREFERRED SKILLS (not required)
Mandarin
Relativity experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviewing and analyzing documents and explaining/summarizing them to lawyers
Identifying and preparing documents for production to third parties
Performing complex legal research; preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.; reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation
