SunHorse Weddings, based in tropical Isla Mujeres, Mexico, specializing in full-service destination weddings, is seeking a Jack-Of-Two-Trades who enjoys the freedom of working from home and also wants to work on a beautiful Caribbean island for 3-4 months making peoples dream wedding come true.
Isla Mujeres, Mexico is located just off Cancun. Easy to get to and uniquely beautiful.
This is a multi-level, multi-talented position. The official position title is "Marketing Guru/Wedding Wrangler". The "Marketing Guru" side of the job is a tele-commute position. The "Wedding Wrangler" is an on-site position in Isla Mujeres, Mexico for at least 3 months per year. The timing is negotiable and will be anywhere between November-July. Here is the details of each:
Marketing/Design Guru (Tele-Commute - Part-time/10-20 hours per week - Salaried position - $1000/month)
- Social Media Specialist- will deliver daily stylish and engaging content within Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest as well as create SEO-optimized copy for our company website and blog
- Become a company advocate in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
- Blogger - transcribe video blog and add information and graphics as well as manage cross-marketing links and embedded content
- YouTube - Maintain video upload process and YouTube page
- Website - updating content and photos as needed using WordPress
- Pinterest page population - project - upload all current wedding albums and add fun titles and appropriate tag words
- Graphic design - Creating signage, advertising ads, various wedding related printed and digital documents
- Wedding Submissions - submit our "real Weddings" to industry magazines, websites and blogs
- Generate new ideas that would bring our brand to the fore-front of the destination wedding industry
Wedding Wrangler (On-Site in Isla Mujeres - $500usd/wedding - average 3-4 weddings per month)
- Day of Wedding Coordination - overseeing set-up staff and vendors (spanish-speaking) to ensure all décor elements are implemented to the clients specifications, manage guests and transitions with grace, be the master of ceremonies, be able to multitask like a pro and stay on schedule, be proficient at problem solving on the fly, have a fast reaction time, be able to smile through the stress.
- Event Director - Meet wedding guests for outside events such as dinners, tours, golf cart scavenger hunts. Coordinate the groups as specified by the event order.
- Client meetings - in-person and tele-communication. Attend required client meetings to gain knowledge of the clients and build a positive, trusting, professional relationship with them.
Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Digg, Youtube, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.)
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience writing/managing a company blog and managing social media channels for a brand
- Working knowledge of graphic design tools such as Abode Creative Cloud products
- 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business or Marketing
- Strong, proven passion for travel
- Experience writing SEO-friendly website content
- Excellent customer service skills and strong ability to work under pressure in a high stress environment
- Ability to deal with difficult personalities and be professional in the face of challenging people
- Physically able to be on your feet for 6 hours straight and walking at least 15000 steps on a wedding day
- Willingness to live in Isla Mujeres Mexico for months at a time
- Willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment
- Language: 100% English and Conversational Spanish (50%)
- Excellent time management and self-management skills
Preferred:
- Age 30-45 due to the maturity and professionalism required
- Talent for hand-painting creative signs with elegant lettering
- Bi-lingual (100% Spanish/100% English)
The interview process: 1. Skype interview 2. Second Skype interview with senior staff 3. In-person interview on Isla Mujeres during a wedding (12 hour work day) in which we will pay for travel & housing.
