Senior Database Engineer (Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO)–Austin, TX); Multiple positions available. Develop and enhance internal applications supporting PIMCO’s portfolio management and trading activities. Deliver complex platforms that enable decision making and employ techniques to optimize investment decisions. Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, and business owners to develop trading systems to support business objectives. Provide production support and development support for PIMCO’s Cloud Databases on various platforms. Assist in the design, development, maintenance, and improvement for application and system monitoring tools. Develop tools and utilities to automate, repair, patch and report on database performance. Troubleshoot production issues, isolate causes, perform debugging as required, and document resolution. Work closely with development teams in PIMCO technology and analytics to ensure proper use of cloud database features, best practices, and adherence to PIMCO database standards. Position based in Austin, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week. Position requires on-call availability during off hours and weekends.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or in a related technical field and 5 years of experience in database administration. Education, training, or experience must include: Providing production support, solutions and expertise for Cloud Database Platforms; Designing, developing and deploying AWS Relational, NoSQL and Data Lake architectures; Complex troubleshooting, delivering RCA and resolving in a 24x7 production environment; Supporting performance testing and application benchmarking activities; Collection, monitoring and alert on system health metrics; and Building large systems and distributed systems. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position based in Austin, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week. Position requires on-call availability during off hours and weekends.
