Job Summary:
I own and operate a small, handmade cosmetic business specializing in clean, sustainable, vegan-friendly makeup & skincare. Everything is herbalist formulated and made in small batches with lots of love and care. The business has been successfully growing since 2018 and has reached the point where I can't keep up with everything on my own.
The Product-Making Assistant is a support role centered around product-making, labeling, and order fulfillment. This person would be working closely with me to handle weekly product-based operations. If desired, this position offers room for development and growth over time.
Since the hours are part-time, the ideal candidate has a natural interest in & aptitude for product-making, and will be able to learn and develop the systems & skills necessary within this time limitation. Through ample training and guidance, this person will be expected to make brand products from start-to-finish with confidence, accuracy, & professionalism.
Previous Experience:
This is a great opportunity for someone with knowledge and experience in skincare or esthetics who is interested in applying these skills toward natural product-making. Those with certain food service experience (ex. baking or precision cooking) would also do well in this position, as it requires a high level of attention to detail. Experience in professional or DIY product-making is huge plus, but not a pre-requisite.
Duties + Responsibilities:
This person would assist with the following tasks, while developing the skills to eventually complete them
independently:
- Carefully following recipes to create makeup and skincare products
- Cleaning and labeling products to prepare them for retail
- Preparing and shipping online customer orders
- Assisting with the delivery of Post Office and retail orders
- Assisting with upkeep of the workspace (ex. dishes, tidying, cleaning, sanitizing)
- Leading or assisting with occasional local markets and events
- Understanding and retaining information regarding various ingredients and rudimentary cosmetic science
- Learning and remembering basic order-of-operations and daily systems in the workspace
