What are you willing to do to work in a win-win environment? Are you willing to do something that you might not normally do? This ad may be a bit long, but reading all of it will tell you how to maximize what you get paid in our company:
What you get/How YOU win:
1) Respect- our men don't get yelled at and are treated like valuable humans. This one facet by itself has created incredible loyalty with our men.
2) Paid on time- every Friday. We have never missed a payroll. NOT EVER.
3) Stability- 40+ hours of work (if wanted) consistently.
4) Flexibility- Family is important to us. You have children? You have a death in the family? We work with our men when they notify us about important life events.
5) Education & growth- Nobody knows everything about every trade. And the more you know, the more you get paid. So we offer learning and training in multiple trades for those who are always looking to add to their skills.
6) Above average pay- For men that actually know what they are doing in multiple trades and consistently produce, we are always looking for excuses to pay them more.
Character Traits (how WE win):
BE responsible. Perfection is not expected. Accountability is. You make a mistake, own it.
Be motivated. Be a self-starter. It is up to you to push yourself.
BE reliable. Our clients count on us. We need to be able to count on you.
BE punctual. Sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't, but it does reveal character.
BE fluent in English. We don't care where you come from but we (and our clients) care about clear communication.
Be honest. We prefer to have a lower skilled honest person than a highly skilled dishonest one.
BE clean. No substance abuse (of any type). This is not about morality. What you do in your spare time is your business.
BE a good communicator.
BE committed to creating a win- win-win environment (client, you, us). It takes all three.
BE friendly and interact well with others. Sometimes you work alone, sometimes with others.
Be aware of your surroundings. Seeing ALL the aspects of a project/jobsite, not just your "task".
Have common sense. It's not just about the skillset.
Clean up after yourself. Again, we prefer a lower skilled clean worker than a highly skilled slob.
BE willing to learn new skills & methods. Unlearning and then relearning is just as important. The highest paid men in our company don't have fragile egos. Having learned something improperly (or not learning it at all) is nobody's fault. Being open to this fact, however, is your responsibility.

Who we are:
We are a highly rated, Central Texas commercial/residential remodel general contractor (A+ rated on BBB, 5 Star rating on Houzz, Home Advisor, Google, and Angie's List). Our reputation is so good that we turn down multiple projects every year due to lack of manpower. But I would rather turn the work down than make promises we can't keep.
Long Term vs. Short Term in Texas Construction
We are looking for a long term relationship. This is important to understand. Many Texas contractors operate in what I refer to as a "hit and run" fashion. They get a "cash cow" job. They will hire you at a rate that is above normal. Then, when that job is done, they will cut you loose. They used you. Now they are done with you. Some of them won't even give you your final paycheck. We know this because we have interviewed dozens of men who have had this experience. In our company, you will get a minimum of 40 hours per week, continuously. You keep doing the good work (and keep operating in a "win-win" fashion) we will keep providing it. It is rare that we are unable to keep all of our men working, and when it happens, it is usually because a client changed something on short notice.
Integrity
Our company is unusual in that we offer a 5 year warranty on our workmanship. We stand by our work and also ask our people to stand by THEIR work. This requires extreme confidence in the quality of your craftsmanship. Integrity and commitment are crucial which means every person in the company has to be on board with that. Our clients demand (and pay for) quality and are not of the "as cheap as I can get it" crowd.
Our goal is to create a mutually beneficial environment where we both flourish. It is all about that "Win-Win" relationship.
Skillsets (how the client wins):
If you consider yourself to be a highly skilled journeyman, you must
be highly skilled in multiple trades, including AT LEAST three of the following:
1) drywall/tape/float/texture work
2) framing/rough carpentry
3) millwork and/or finish carpentry
4) tile work
5) flooring
6) electrical
7) plumbing
8) doors and windows (yea, this could be considered millwork, but not
everyone can do this and crown/baseboards)
While the following skills are not essential, they would certainly be of additional value (for you AND us AND our clients)
9) concrete work
10) stonework/masonry
11) painting (all types)
12) metal working/welding
13) roofing
Other tangibles:
1) return text messages & phone calls
2) have your own reliable transportation (truck/SUV required, not a
passenger car)
3) have your own tools (at least some of them)
4) and most importantly, have good problem solving/MacGuyer skills.
Summary:
Basically, the more ways that you can take care of our clients, the more you make. The less supervision that you require, the more you make. Pay is weekly and is based on what you bring to the table. The more of the above skills in which you excel, the more you get paid.
The attributes are non-negotiable. If you are highly skilled, but are rude, grouchy, or condescending to clients and/or co-workers, show up late consistently, or spend half the day texting on your phone, it is a no go. If you are highly skilled, but lacking at communication and updates, it will reduce what you could otherwise make.
The “Dating” period:
ALL new workers go through a trial period (usually around 2 weeks) regardless of previous experience. At some point during the trial period we do an evaluation to determine skill set and future pay.
Geographic work area:
Our primary work area is from Kyle in the south to Georgetown in the north. We also do work in Dripping Springs & Cedar Park. We occasionally work in places out of our main coverage area (San Antonio, Marble Falls, Driftwood, Spicewood, etc) and pay travel when we do.
Other:
You MUST be able to pass a drug test.
Note that we do not currently offer any type of health insurance, but we plan to offer it within the year.
We do not have any non-working supervisor positions available. Every man in the company gets his hands dirty.
