Job Overview:The Director of Golf supports the Executive General Manager in supervising and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Golf Courses, Golf Course Maintenance Department, Pro Shop, Driving Range and Cart Barn facilities. The Director of Golf will oversee the performance of all golf operations and services including golf course maintenance. The position will promote an exceptional "golf experience," and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons. Responsible for preparation of pro shop, golf operations, driving range and golf course maintenance budget (with golf superintendent input) and related services / associated bidding specifications, initial negotiation of contract/purchase terms and conditions, final contract/purchase document preparation and administration. Reports directly to the Executive General Manager with significant contact with the HOA's Golf Advisory Committee and committee members, recognized golf clubs and their members, homeowners, supervisory staff, vendors, independent contractors and city officials.Compensation: $100-110KFirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.Job Responsibilities:
Manage and direct golf course superintendent.
Maintain and promote a superlative professional image with the community.
Ensure consistent high standards of customer service across all golf operations.
Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
Attends all required Golf club meetings and GAC.
Works closely with the Superintendent on course conditions and practices.
Oversee the management of all golf shop operations and course maintenance.
Oversee golf marketing initiatives including all promotional materials.
Oversee all fiscal responsibilities and performance for the golf operations.
Oversee all operational policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures.
Oversee the golf instruction, clinics, and golfer development programs.
Promotes the game of Golf throughout the community.
Manages and directs the pro shop and cart barn staff
Assists the Executive General Manager and Director of Golf Course Maintenance in responding to golf course operations questions and concerns, interpretation of golf rules and homeowner concerns and problems.
Oversees and takes appropriate action to ensure that the Sun Lakes pro shop; cart barn and driving range facilities are maintained and operated in accordance with acceptable standards and within established operating and reserve budget guidelines.
Oversees all aspects of the Association's day-to-day pro shop, cart barn and driving range operation.
Uses Association vehicle to perform golf course, driving range and pro shop inspections and/or pick up materials as needed.
Assists the Executive General Manager in preparing annual pro shop and cart barn operating and reserve budgets and performs monthly monitoring of expenditures.
Reviews vendor invoices for accuracy of billing and approves same for final review by the Executive General Manager.
Supervises all aspects of the golf course pro shop and cart barn staffs' performance including hiring, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary action and/or termination when warranted.
Performs safety training for new employees, holds tailgate safety meetings for continuing training, investigates injuries or near misses involving subordinates and reports results to Executive General Manager and corporate Human Resources Director for possible action.
Takes appropriate action to ensure that unsafe practices or conditions are corrected.
Assist with other jobs and other duties as necessary.

Ability to apply the principle and practices of a small scale organization (minimum 10 subordinates and operating budget of $500,000 to $1,000,000).
Prepare, analyze and operate within approved budget limits and follow established golf course customer service industry standards and requirements.
Knowledge and ability to perform, and train others to perform, various retail sales functions utilizing accepted and established practices.
Oversee and supervise the pro shop and cart barn staff to insure a consistently high level of customer service and satisfaction.
Ability to use modern office equipment and software programs as applicable to the position.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, residents and contractors.
Communicate effectively with others in English both verbally and in writing.
Prepare reports and make formal presentations to large groups.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years College level coursework in Turf Management, Agronomy, or Business Administration (or equivalent management experience) with appropriate college level skills in math, business English, vocabulary, communications, and writing.
Three years' experience involving pro shop, cart repair and driving range operations.
Advanced knowledge of golf course operations, pro shop, driving range and cart repair management practices.
Must possess a general knowledge of golf facility construction principles, golf course maintenance practices and methods, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf
Three years' experience involving supervision of others (staff size minimum of 15 individuals) and managing outside contractors and vendors.
Tools & Experience:
Valid CA Driver's License and proof of valid auto insurance.
