Job Purpose : Oversees the activities of the Medical Staff Office on-site at one or more of the Methodist facilities. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.Education
Associates Degree preferred, minimum of High school Diploma or Equivalent required
Licenses and/or Certifications
Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) required. If not currently certified, will need to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
Related Work Experience and Other Skills
Work Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in the medical services profession.
Supervisory experience preferred
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively and efficiently with healthcare professionals both in and out of the hospital environment
Must be motivated as well as a self-starter who can work independently; however capable and willing to take direction as appropriate
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Strong computer skills

Job RolesSENIOR MEDICAL STAFF COORDINATOR Proficiency LevelCredentialing & Privileging Process:
Coordinate initial appointment and reappointment processes with Methodist Credentials Verification staff.
Acts as the system hospital Credentials Committee Liaison, by auditing credentialing applications for Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals; in accordance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements and policies and procedures in preparation for review by the Credentials Committee;
Examines researches, and gathers all information necessary to process information received from practitioners to support the credentialing and privileging processes.
Coordinates review of credentialing and privileging process with Medical Staff Department Chairs.
Researches, develops, and revises, existing privilege sheets to assure they current concerning standards of care and new technology.
Perform outreach to practitioners for information.
Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of electronic credentialing files;
Verify and respond to telephone inquiries and written inquiries from practitioners and other departments, pertaining to practitioner and credentialing status in a professional and courteous manner.
Coordinates requests for temporary privileges and urgent applications requiring immediate processing,
Maintain all additions, terminations and changes to practitioners’ membership and privileges for processing to the Board of Directors.
Prepare credentialing reports for medical staff committees, including summarizing information, identifying concerns for review and discussion.
Manage expirables processes for System hospital(s)
Medical Staff Organization Facilitator
On-site representative for Medical & Allied Health Staff and System Hospital Administration.
Supervises and oversees the daily operations of medical staff team at the System Hospital(s).
Proactively prioritizes needs and effectively manages resources.
Attend and participate in department meetings within MSS
Actively Participate in meetings at System Hospital(s) as a member of the team, representing Medical Staff.
Maintain a high level of proficiency in development, design and implementation of medical staff database.
Acts as liaison between the Medical Staff, MSO and Physician Recruitment Committee;
Act as a liaison between the medical staff and other departments of the hospital and provide assistance in the coordination of the duties of the medical staff.
Serves as main point of contact for external queries regarding practitioner’s status, providing responses in a timely manner.
Maintain a working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws Department rules and regulations; and Hospital Policies pertaining to medical staff, practitioner, and the organization to ensure the medical staff’s adherence with stated parameters
Maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies; Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Law pertaining to the Medical Staff and apply them to the credentialing, privileging process as needed
Conducts, participates in, maintains and manage both Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation processes.
Coordinate the Medical Staff’s Succession and Leadership process including the election process of system hospital medical staff leadership in compliance with the medical staff bylaws processes.
Facilitate medical staff committee meetings associated with the hospital medical staff, which includes attending committee meetings, sending notifications, drafting agendas, taking minutes; and any follow up as required (includes hospital Medical Executive Committee meetings, General Medical Staff and Department meetings)
Facilitate & coordinate system-wide medical staff meetings, which includes drafting agendas, attending meetings, taking minutes and doing any required follow-up associated.
Attend Corporate Credentials Committee and Corporate Medical Board meetings.
Manage the Practitioner Conduct process, including coordinate investigations and assist with interviews with medical staff leaders.
Onboard new medical staff leaders on their role within medical staff.
Monitors, tracks and trends patient complaints as they relate to Physician’s and AHP’s in compliance with Medical Staff policies.
Assist with onboarding process of medical staff and allied health professional candidates
Manages/oversees the ED Call for system hospital(s).
Collaborate and collaborate with System hospital Quality Department on Medical Staff related matters.
Coordinate and follow-up on medical record deficiencies for medical and allied health staff.
Understand and utilize Medical Staff Bylaws and Policies in decision-making.
Oversee and participates in surveys and audits with accrediting bodies, regulators and governmental agencies.
Provides training and acts as a mentor within medical staff services.
