The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Mid-Level Vibration Shock and Acoustics Engineer located in Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX, El Segundo, CA and Kennedy Space Center, FL. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Space Launch Systems (SLS) program performing Vibration Shock and Acoustic analysis for the Exploration Upper Stage.

Position Responsibilities Include:

• Perform system-level acoustic analysis to determine component environment and secondary structure loads
• Develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design
• Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
• Guide product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
• Develop test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
• Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
• Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
• Work under general direction

Work Authorization:

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. Government authorities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
• 3+ years of experience performing structural dynamics and acoustic analysis pertaining to launch vehicles or space crafts
• 3+ years of experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 3+ years of experience with Statistical Energy Analysis tools and methods (e.g. VA/One, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience using NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on aircraft or space structures
• 1+ years of experience with random vibration analysis
• 1+ years of experience in environmental qualification testing
• Experience in integrated technical planning, requirements and functional analysis, requirements management and verification
• Experience executing tests using environmental chambers, shock, vibration, and acceleration/centrifuge

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
