The most competitive applicants will demonstrate: (1) ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms; (2) strong applied research and technical ability; (3) experience delivering economic and policy information using a variety of methods including online tools; and (4) ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Major Responsibilities:-Collect and provide data on the key elements of the timberland property tax formula.-Coordinate timberland management costs survey.-Periodically analyze and report on the economic impact of the forest sector in the state.-Monitor forest market conditions and publish bi-monthly report on timber prices.-Value the ecosystem services provided by forestland in the state.-Organize and conduct educational seminars on timber tax issues-Track timberland ownership trends in the state. -Work in a team environment on special studies related to forestry and natural resource issues in the state. -Other duties as assignedWorking Conditions: -Primarily office-based, but some field work will be expected. -Some work may occur after hours and require out of town travel.Please complete the form found at this link: https://tfsweb.tamu.edu/uploadedFiles/TFSMain/FinanceandAdmin/StaffResources/Forms/Applicant Supplemental Information Form 20180904.docx and upload it to this application when uploading other documents. This form must be uploaded during the application process.Education and Experience:Required Education: Ph.D. in Forest Economics or closely related Natural Resources disciplineRequired Experience: Economic analysis and forest policy.Preferred Experience: Policy decision support analysis, property taxation, federal income tax, forest law.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Preferred Knowledge: Econometrics. Proficiency in MS Office and statistical softwareRequired Ability: Strong applied research and technical ability. Experience delivering economic and policy information using a variety of methods including online tools. Work independently and as a member of a team. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.Required Skills: Effectively communicate in verbal and written forms.Preferred Skills: Skills in the use of software systems for modeling timber supply and economic impact (e.g., SRTS, IMPLAN) are highly desirable.Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:Required: Valid Texas Driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
