The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and maintaining diesel and heavy equipment, as required, and fulfilling administrative functions required under the maintenance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Observe General Safety Rules
Repair and maintain heavy equipment, including cranes, as needed
Perform diagnosis, repair, and reconditioning of machine systems and components as needed
Perform planned maintenance and inspections
Operate and test repaired equipment and confirm specifications are met
Complete thorough documentation on all reports and forms as required with work assignments
Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor in a professional and in a timely and efficient manner
Seek and participate in appropriate training opportunities
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is 100% outdoors
Exposed to weather conditions, i.e. heat, rain and cold, daily
Occasionally work in closed spaces (i.e. warehouse, vessel hatch, etc.)
Capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100ft high
Must be able to react quickly to physical reactions
Ability to work in a noisy environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends, as needed
Requirements:
Four (4) years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment (forklifts, terminal tractors,
automobiles, top loaders, etc.)
Familiarity with hydraulic systems, diesel engine repairs, pneumatic and electrical systems
Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematic diagrams
Tools required to perform equipment maintenance and repair
Must have clean MVR and reliable transportation to and from work
Excellent communication in English, Spanish a plus
The ability and willingness to work in a team environment
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have a TWIC Card (Transportation Worker identification Credential)
Must be willing to travel, as needed
