Stainless Steel Products is the area's premier custom fabrication facility, specializing in stainless steel manufacturing. Started in 1960, we serve the metal fabrication needs of all South Texas and beyond, utilizing all metals including aluminum, mild steel, galvanized, and other materials.
Position: Fabricator in Training
Duties: You will be expected to help in all fabrication stations, gradually learning and supporting the basic duties of each position in the shop. You will be involved in a variety of fabrication capacities, including: press brake operation, shearing, punching, grinding/polishing, welding, drilling, and assembly/installation. Other duties will include the driving of company vehicles for pickups and deliveries, assisting customers in loading their materials, and unloading of products and materials.
Hours: We work a regular 5/8 schedule (Monday through Friday, 7AM to 4PM with lunch between 12PM and 1PM). One week out of the month we work a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday, 7AM to 6PM with lunch between 12PM and 1PM. Overtime opportunities are frequent and evolve without warning. You will be expected to be available when needed for overtime work.
Compensation: Starting wage will be commensurate to your previous work experience. After a probationary period of 90 days, you will be eligible for health care insurance; we pay 65% of your premium. We also offer SIMPLE IRA, matching up to 3% of income. The company provides term life insurance at no cost while employed with us. Vacation starts after one year of service.
Requirements: We are looking for an energetic individual who can work efficiently and consistently. The ability to follow instructions is CRITICAL to succeed in this job. Punctuality is an absolute must, as well as a drug-free, responsible attitude. There is no metal fabrication experience required for this position; however, those with prior related experience (such as carpentry, welding, machine work, or vocational training) will be preferred. A high school diploma is preferred; however, a GED will be accepted in some cases. All applicants must possess a valid, non-suspended driver's license and have not more than one moving violation in the previous 12 months.
