The Sommelier is the wine expert of the restaurant and is responsible for guiding our guests through our wine selection and ensuring proper service of wine is maintained to company standards. This Team Member will have a devotion and curiosity to wine education, will be a self-starter and have the personality to form lasting relationships with our guests!
Primary Responsibilities:
Recommends and sells wines and other beverages to guests
Ability to learn and demonstrate commanding knowledge of the wine list, a thorough understanding of the menu and how the two pair, as well as all other beverages offered
Uses systems available for noting Guest preferences as a tool for increasing wine sales
Assists Management in maintaining updated availability on wine list, conducting timely inventory counts of wine on-hand.
Stores and assists with wine ordered to ensure product on hand is sufficient to support operations according to set pars and operational needs
As needed by Management, assists with wine and beverage training of team on shift, communicating changes regarding the restaurants wine selection and ensuring training tools are effectively used
Assists management in maintaining availability of wine training tools
Provides Guest service and support for wine dinners and wine tasting events
Maintain standards set forward by company
Requirements:
Passion for wine and people
Outstanding customer service skills and be a team player
Exceptional wine knowledge, hospitality focused and strong ability to sell
Previous experience in a steakhouse environment is strongly preferred
Good communication skills, organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Basic computer skills
Positive attitude, self-motivated, polite, energetic and is a willing learner
