Now Hiring: General Manager
We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to oversee all aspects of operations at our busy sports bar and restaurant.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Daily Operations
Lead daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations
Hire, train, schedule, and motivate staff
Deliver exceptional guest experiences with a focus on hospitality
Manage inventory, ordering, and cost controls
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
Develop and execute promotions and events to increase sales
Supervise all staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout each shift
Communicate daily specials, goals, and expectations to the team
Act as the point of contact for staff questions or conflicts during shifts
Ensure staff are on task and following assigned roles/schedules
Coach and correct staff behavior in real time (professionalism, appearance, punctuality, side work)
Address customer concerns promptly and ensure excellent guest service
Step in to assist any department when the team is short-handed or during slow periods to support smooth operations
Kitchen Oversight & Compliance
Oversee kitchen operations to ensure consistency, cleanliness, and adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards
Monitor proper food handling, storage, and labeling practices
Enforce standards for cleanliness, organization, and maintenance in all kitchen areas
Monitor inventory rotation, control spoilage and waste, and maintain accurate counts
Hold kitchen staff accountable for maintaining their own stations clean and sanitized
Lead by example and jump in to support kitchen tasks when needed
Cash Handling & Loss Prevention
Verify accurate cash handling, register balances, and till counts
Ensure tills are prepped with $200 each before opening
Monitor staff sales to prevent theft, undercharging, or missed items
Approve and document all comps, voids, and discounts
Oversee proper handling and secure storage of cash at the end of the night
Bartender Oversight
Ensure bartenders:
Ring in all items correctly (no undercharging or missed items)
Use jiggers for accurate pours (no overpouring)
Do not drink or become intoxicated on the job
Do not over-serve guests and refuse service to intoxicated patrons
Perform proper ID checks and follow all alcohol laws
Cleanliness & Venue Walkthroughs
Conduct regular walk-throughs to check for cleanliness, organization, and maintenance issues
Ensure restrooms are fully clean and stocked before closing
Confirm bar area, dining areas, and patio are clean and organized before opening and before leaving
Opening & Closing Duties
Opening: TVs and music on, bar fully stocked and set up, signage turned on, tills counted to $200
Closing: Entire venue (including bathrooms) fully cleaned, equipment turned off and secured, doors locked, alarms set, and cash secured
Operational Oversight & Reporting
Ensure opening and closing checklists are completed and signed off by staff
Confirm time punches are accurate before clock-out
Monitor labor costs vs. sales during the shift and adjust staffing as needed
Submit a shift report noting: sales, labor, incidents, inventory shortages, and equipment issues
Communicate important updates, guest feedback, or operational concerns to management
Provide a clear end-of-shift handoff to the next Shift Lead or Manager
Compliance & Safety
Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations
Ensure staff follow food handling, cleaning, and sanitation standards
Monitor entrances/exits to prevent minors or banned individuals from entering
Report any suspicious activity, safety concerns, or security issues immediately
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of bar/restaurant management experience
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling, and inventory management
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Passion for hospitality and team building
