We are a small ranch looking for a husband/wife type team who want to work hard, raise livestock, work a large garden, assist part time with an elderly relative of the owner and do ranch maintenance. This would be a full time job paid hourly for the ranch manager and a part time position for the caretaker in exchange for RV parking, utilities (power/water and internet)
Specifically -
Ranch Manager - Hours would be Tuesday through Saturday minimum 8 hours per day. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm during winter, 6:30-3:30 during summer. As with any farm, hours are also dependent upon the weather and needs of the animals. There will be times when we work in inclement weather or at night if the situation calls for it.
Caretaker: This is a part time position with no set schedule. It will be a minimum of 12 hours per week. Mainly checking in next door in the evenings/weekends on an elderly relative of the owner with duties to include: occasional meal prep, occasional grocery shopping or driving to medical appointment if her daughter is out of town, occasional light gardening or other household type chores for a minimum of 12 hours per week. Payment arrangement would be RV parking spot, utilities (water/power) and internet. Anything over 12 hours per week would be paid at $15 per hour.
Ranch Manager Job would consist of:
Caring for all the animals on the farm. Including feeding and caring for cows, horses, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, dogs and cats. We would train you and yes it includes cleaning stalls, tagging animals, castration of calves, being available during calving time and other hands-on activities as needed.
Small scale vegetable and fruit production, setting up beds, hoop houses, planting trees, propagating and caring for plants
Lots of Mowing, weed eating, lots of weed pulling, brush removal, fence repair and other duties required to maintain the ranch properties in good working condition as needed.
Able to drive a tractor, skid steer or mini excavator.
Management of composting systems, including collecting animal and vegetable waste from farm to use in these systems. Yes, this means cleaning stalls that we then turn into compost for use on pastures.
Assisting with annual pecan harvest
Assisting with management of hay pastures or hay distribution
Assisting with any aspect of the farm, ranch or occasional assistance with other onsite business/activities as needed
The Ranch Manager position is a paid position. $18 per hour, there will be occasional overtime.
Must pass a background and drug check.
Must be able to lift 50lbs routinely
Must be able to frequently bend and squat while working in barns and gardens
Must be able to handle extensive physical labor such as hoeing, raking etc.
Must be able to work in all types of weather
Must have valid Texas Driver's license with no moving violations for two years and NO DUI convictions.
We are a non-smoking facility (no smoking in barns, office or housing) and no smoking is allowed in farm vehicles.
