Required Skills:
Ability to recruit and direct the Chancel Choir and Chimes Choir.
Ability to recruit and schedule musicians from the Congregation as well as outside musicians to provide Offertory or Introit music.
Skill in playing four-part hymns.
Ability to sight-read most hymns from hymnal.
Responsibilities:
Be present at the church each Sunday morning by 10:00AM to set up and rehearse with the choir before the service. Arrive by 10:30AM in the summer when the Chancel Choir is off.
Attend rehearsal each Wednesday evening during the choir season- arriving by 7:15PM and remaining until rehearsal is finished (approximately 8:30-9:00PM).
Play for other services, such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Holy Week services, or as directed and approved by the Pastor.
Rehearse with vocalists or instrumental soloists, outside and in addition to regular hours.
Schedule planned absences with the Pastor and find a competent substitute to play at both church services and rehearsals, during planned absences.
Provide accompaniment for funerals, when possible, for appropriate additional compensation.
Coordinate music for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter with the Pastor.
