Job Description
The HVAC Mechanical Technician – Service & Maintenance is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related mechanical equipment at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
This position requires a detail-oriented, safety-conscious professional with strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining comfort and reliability for one of the world’s busiest airports while representing MESA with professionalism, teamwork, and integrity.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on air handling units (AHUs), variable air volume systems (VAVs), chillers, boilers, pumps, exhaust fans, and other HVAC components.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with HVAC and building automation systems (BAS/DDC).
Monitor, test, and balance system performance to ensure efficiency and comfort standards are met.
Inspect belts, motors, bearings, filters, and controls, replacing components as needed.
Respond promptly to service calls, equipment failures, and emergency maintenance requests.
Document all maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections accurately using computerized maintenance systems (CMMS).
Ensure all work complies with DFW Airport standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Coordinate with Airport Facilities, JLL, and other MESA teams to support building operations and occupant comfort.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and mechanical rooms.
Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend improvements for system performance.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide field support for capital improvement projects, retrofits, and equipment replacements.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new HVAC systems and controls.
Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and airport orientation requirements.
Be available for on-call or shift assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by airport operations.
Maintain good communication with supervisors, team members, and airport personnel.
