Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Manager and Machine Shop Supervisor, this position operates fabricating machines, tools and equipment such as saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and punches that cut, shape bend and bond plastic plates, sheets, tubes and structures by performing the following duties below. This position may also operate various machine shop equipment including both CNC and manual Mills and Routers, Lasers, Vacuum Formers, various saws, cutters, and presses, and other shop equipment and tools.
This position may also be required to perform the functions of the Machine Shop Helper job description as needed.
Requirements:
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, machine instructions, and written and verbal instructions to execute work orders.
Strong knowledge using shop instruments, such as calipers, gage pins, height gauges, and micrometers to ensure correct dimensions.
Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, forming and all bench operations.
Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
Must be willing to accept and receive supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
Must be able to operate with minimal supervision once trained by following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
Wear proper safety equipment and comply with company safety rules at all times.
Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat and tidy.
Job Duties:
Trims, drills, countersinks, grinds, and finishes parts to specifications, using templates, hand tools, and power tools.
Fits and assembles parts and attaches hardware and fittings using clamps, fixtures, power tools, and fasteners to print.
Performs typical machine shop operations to support the production and fabrication of plastic parts.
Tends one or more machine tools, special-purpose machines, or industrial equipment to machine and fabricate plastic workpieces to specifications on a production basis.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
