Summary
Support production and engineering departments in respect to tooling and fixture needs.
Fabricate and repair tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges and hand tools by studying requirements; machining materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges or hand tools by studying blueprints, sketches, specifications, and descriptions; applying knowledge of materials, machining, and assembly methods and mathematics.
Prepare stock for machining by measuring, marking and scribing.
Machine tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges or hand tools by setting up and operating manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, cutter grinders, Sunnen hone, sinker EDM and related equipment.
Confirm tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges by comparing measurements to specifications using micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks and other measurement tools.
Strengthen tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges or hand tools by heat-treating materials.
Trouble shoot assembly problems by altering fixtures to meet product specifications.
Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Document actions by completing logs, adjusting specifications.
Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
High school degree or equivalent (GED)
Minimum 1 year experience Machinist.
Minimum 1 year experience Tool Maker.
Minimum 1 year experience Tool Maker/ Mold maker.
Minimum 1 year experience in the setup and operation of sinker EDM equipment.
Must be able to read and decipher complicated drawings and blueprints.
Must be able to sketch and dimension a detail from an existing part.
Must be proficient in use of all basic machine shop equipment including lathes, grinders, mills, etc. to produce close tolerance tooling and parts for manufacturing.
Must be able to fabricate jigs, fixtures, machinery parts, prototype parts, extruder tooling, die fabrication and specialty machines. Heat treating of components.
Must have the ability build, repair and trouble shoot Plastic Injection molds.
Must be able to build mold components holding tolerances as low as +/.0001 using Manual mills, lathes and Surface grinders.
Qualifications
At least 18 years of age.
Must be able to stand for long periods.
Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
