We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our work family. The ideal candidate will fit in with our hard-working, family culture, oh and you need to have skills, too. This person will be responsible for fabricating and welding our super cool custom gates and other amazing projects, without whining! We’ve been in business since 2003 and need a team player to join our team of 8 hard-working individuals and help complete these cool gates. Below are more details but this is NOT an oilfield welding position, we like to have fun, and treat our folks like family, so bad attitudes, dirty jokes, and disrespect aren’t tolerated (go work for one of our competitors.) We fabricate decorative gates and other projects from mostly light gauge materials where attention to detail is important. Most materials are from 3/4in tubing up to 4in square tubing, also using plates from 14ga-1/4in and our gate posts are usually 5in ¼ wall. Smaller gauge materials but they do get heavy, so we need someone ready to work.
Responsibilities
- Complete all welding, fabrication, and cleanup to TX Gates' standards, yes we have standards.
- Have all work tack checked and final checked, we also check your work, so if that’s a problem work for one of our competitors because they don’t check anything…lol.
- Keep jobs within the time allotted, with no naps during working hours.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Uphold fabrication safety by wearing proper safety equipment (safety glass, steel toe, apron, etc.) and maintaining a safe work environment. We don’t want to have to sweep you into a paper bag; just saying.
- Assist in the completion of other projects around the shop as needed, yes you may be asked to help with other projects.
- Support the team in any way to help super-serve our customers. This we are very serious about. Serving our customers.
Qualifications- Able to follow instructions, yes this is important.
- Show up. I know this is lame, but you have to be here to do the job.- The ability to work well with a team, AKA work well with others, you know who you are.- Skilled in mig welding thin material 16ga - 11ga- Ability to read and follow show drawings.
- Operate a forklift, and learn to use our plasma table, bandsaw, tubing roller, and other equipment. Yes, you’ll do more than just welding. - Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, if your spirit animal is a sloth please move along.
- Willing to learn new and different ways of doing things.- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods, it’s called WORK.
Working Conditions:
Regularly works in indoor/outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures, it’s Texas you know. Heavy lifting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching are required for this position, you can do this.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work to lift 80 pounds, to push, pull, carry, or maneuver heavier items, have good visual acuity to see and focus close, at a distance, and with normal peripheral vision and normal depth perception.
Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule, if needed.
