Job Description

Job Overview:

As a logistics specialist, you will grow and maintain a broker base that helps support the customer team and company by securing freight. Continually remain current on markets and utilize relationships to promote customer satisfaction. Create and implement solutions for various problems, issues and challenges that you will face on a daily basis in the transportation industry. This person will report to the VP of Trucking.

Job Duties:

Demonstrate the ability to sell in all geographical regions, specifically with a focus on the 11 western, TX and MS.

Negotiate the most cost effective rate for any given lane and continually improving sales skills techniques and strategies.

Must have the ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners, dispatchers, and/or drivers

Book, dispatch, track and monitor loads throughout transit from start to finish. This will include speaking to drivers about directions to shipper and/or receiver as well as verifying all load requirements (equipment, miles, weight, commodity, pickup & delivery times, POD’s, lumper, scale tickets, scales, and revised BOL’s, etc.). Additionally, forward any specific needed information to the Customer Representative when required.

Develop and maintain broker relationships that support business in addition to sourcing out new lanes for growth through broker referrals, cold calling, direct mailings, emails, face to face meetings and networking with current broker base.

Support brokers, drivers and customer teams 24hrs/7 days a week. This includes, but is not limited to, tracking loads and providing problem resolution, even on nights and weekends via email, text message and/or phone calls. All pertinent information needs to be sent to the entire team on any problematic loads and/or carrier updates in order to meet customer satisfaction.

Share industry trends and/or information of significant importance to the entire team

Meet monthly goals set forth by Manager

Maintain daily contact with all your brokers to ensure high levels of broker satisfaction

Have positive interactions with all company employees, showing them respect no matter their race, religion, age, gender, seniority, etc.

Build trust, communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, solve problems in a creative manner and demonstrate a high level of integrity.

Cultivate and maintain internal and external relationships while adhering to company core values.

Trust the knowledge gained by years of experience of those in upper management to lead and guide you in all processes and procedures.

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements:

1-3 years of experience in transportation industry preferred but not required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred, not required

Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)

Extensive experience in all areas of Microsoft -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Outstanding customer service skills with strong attention to detail

Team oriented but ability to work independently as well

Willingness to jump in where needed to get job done and ensure 100% customer satisfaction

Ability to work long hours after a regular work shift (nights, evenings weekends when needed for customers)

Ability to multi-task in a VERY busy environment

Bi Lingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Enthusiasm and high energy

Ability to work in very high stress environment while maintaining a positive attitude

Have a strong “Can Do” mindset while also remaining coachable in order to learn and improve your skills.
