Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controls Specialist to oversee financial management processes for a high-profile, multi-billion-dollar construction project in New York City. Working for one of the leading construction companies in the industry, you will play a critical role in managing cash flow reporting, budget tracking, overhead invoicing, and creating detailed financial reports. This role is essential to ensure strong financial control and accountability throughout the project's lifecycle.The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in financial control mechanisms, project budgeting, and cash management, with a background in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. They will also work closely with project managers, finance teams, and external stakeholders to ensure financial stability and transparency.Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and report on project cash flow to ensure liquidity throughout the project's duration.
Develop cash flow forecasts and ensure alignment with project milestones and expenditures.
Track incoming and outgoing cash related to the project, ensuring accurate reconciliation of accounts.
Track project budgets, ensuring expenditures are aligned with project financial plans.
Identify and analyze budget variances, working with project teams to address any discrepancies.
Assist in updating project forecasts based on changes in scope, timeline, or cost drivers.
Generate and distribute financial reports to stakeholders, highlighting project financial status, cash flow, and overheads.
Prepare detailed financial performance reports for senior management, providing insights into project health.
Provide variance reports and analysis, focusing on cost trends and deviations from the budget.
Review and process overhead invoices, ensuring that all charges are correctly allocated to the project.
Monitor indirect costs and provide accurate tracking of overhead expenses.
Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to validate vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy.
Ensure that internal controls are maintained and adhered to across the project to mitigate financial risk.
Work closely with internal auditors to provide necessary documentation and data for project audits.
Support the implementation of financial controls policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Act as a key financial liaison between project teams, finance departments, and external stakeholders.
Communicate financial status and control issues with project managers, external clients, and senior leadership.
Support external auditors and regulatory bodies by providing accurate project financial data.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in financial controls, project accounting, or cash management, preferably in the construction or infrastructure sector.
Advanced Excel skills
Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and project accounting principles.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Prior experience with large-scale construction projects in New York City or similar metropolitan areas.
Familiarity with compliance requirements and regulatory standards in the construction industry.
