We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Billing Clerk to join our team and contribute to the success of our client's legal office. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal billing, a strong understanding of legal office procedures, and exceptional organizational skills. This position is temp-to-hire with our client through a local recruitment agency in Houston. This job description and its responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive; the employee will also perform other reasonably related business/job duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare and process complex legal billing invoices for probate attorney, ensuring accurate time tracking, expense reporting, and client-specific billing guidelines are meticulously followed,
Review and reconcile attorney time entries, verifying descriptions, time increments, and compliance with firm billing protocols and client requirements,
Manage electronic and paper billing systems, maintaining organized and accessible digital and physical billing records for easy retrieval and audit purposes,
Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to collect and validate time and expense information before invoice generation,
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual billing reports for firm management, tracking, billable hours, realization rates, and revenue metrics,
Communicate professionally with clients regarding billing inquiries, clarifications, and potential adjustments to invoices,
Ensure compliance with ethical billing standards, firm policies, and legal industry best practices,
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and billing information at all times,
Assist in implementing and improving billing workflows and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred,
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in legal billing, law firm, administration, or similar professional billing environment,
Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and mathematical skills,
Proficiency in legal billing software,
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and financial reports,
Strong organizational skills with he ability to manage multiple billing projects simultaneously,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment,
Familiarity with standard legal billing conventions and ethical guidelines.
Education and Certification:
Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related field,
Certification in Legal Administration or Billing (preferred but not required),
Ongoing professional development in legal billing technologies and practices.
Job Type: Full-time | Pay: $20.00 per hour | Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday
