If you are selected as the Senior Environmental Engineer, you will provide strategy and leadership associated with environmental compliance and implementation of GHG reporting regulations. This position specifically deals with GHG reporting in accordance with the EPA GHG Reporting rule while including elements of empirical data in coordination with measurement of methane emissions. You will work closely with the Methane Measurement team to analyze methane measurement results and incorporates them to support company initiatives in developing a measurement-based methane emission inventory.Your responsibilities may include:Part of the GHG reporting team to complete all GHG reports required for EPA reporting purposes
Lead and support GHG assurance by increasing data quality, reviewing interpretations, and documenting data elements and assumptions
Work closely with the Methane Measurement team to ensure that empirical data is addressed in the GHG reporting process to the extent allowed by regulations
Take the lead in regulatory advocacy regarding GHG issues including providing comments to agencies on new GHG regulatory requirements
Interpret and implement any new GHG reporting requirements for L48
Lead the implementation and use of GHG reporting systems across L48
Be a key interface for GHG reporting and associated regulations with other environmental groups within Lower 48 (L48), Operations, IT, Sustainable Development (SD), Legal, and Government Affairs teams. Air/GHG issues with Asset-level management
Be a primary interface for GHG reporting issues with external stakeholders including trade groups and agencies
Work in conjunction with legal, operations, engineering, and other organizations or stakeholders strategically leads the internal efforts to resolve enforcement issues or address key environmental issues brought forward through internal or external entities regarding L48 GHG emissions
Review emission estimations, calculations and authorizations and reports in response to agency inquiries; supports the development of tools that can be used to inform the workforce of emerging trends
As appropriate, participate in Environmental audits whether it be preparing for external audits or participating in internal audits
As necessary, provide environmental oversight and expertise during emergency response activities
Engage with Asset operations and engineering, providing environmental technical knowledge, training, and insight, early in the planning process to proactively embed GHG considerations into design, planning, and implementation
Qualifications:Basic/Required:Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related Sciences or foreign equivalent
7 years of experience in GHG or emissions reporting in the oil and gas sector
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis
Preferred:Master's degree or higher in Engineering or related Sciences or foreign equivalent
Hands-on practical experience using GHG reporting software to complete and submit GHG reports to EPA and addressing follow-up EPA inquiries
Expert level of knowledge about Air/GHG compliance for oil and gas
Excellent oral and communication skills needed to work with multiple clients
Demonstrate leadership and dedication to foster a zero-incident culture
Ability to network and gain cooperation from members of other workgroups
Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
