Description:
We are a warm and busy family of four, with two energetic and loving boys ages 9.5 and 6.5. Both children are on the autism spectrum and bring very different strengths and needs to our home. Our oldest is verbal, loves academics, and thrives with consistency and freedom. He has sensory sensitivities and difficulty with transitions. Our youngest is minimally verbal, happy, playful, and constantly seeking sensory input — he needs a caregiver who will joyfully engage with him on the floor, run, jump, and be a language model for him. Dad works from home (with frequent calls) and travels occasionally; mom works outside of the home.
Our home runs on a full schedule of work, school, and therapies. As part of daily life, we manage an ongoing list of medical and therapy appointments, school needs, and household logistics — from coordinating with specialists and providers to making sure permission slips, repairs, and schedules don’t slip through the cracks.
We’re looking for a dependable caregiver to mostly support our younger son in the afternoons. He is high energy and he thrives with someone who will actively engage with him and bring consistency and patience to his daily routines.
In addition to childcare, this role includes stepping in as a family assistant to help with calendar management, supporting household organization, family logistics, and light meals.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a dependable and patient Family Assistant and Caregiver who can primarily provide after-school care for our younger son- making afternoons playful and engaging while also helping our family stay organized and on top of a busy household.
The right candidate will bring warmth, high energy, and genuine excitement into their work with our boys, along with excellent communication, punctuality, and organizational skills. A background in child development, speech/language therapy, or working with children who are speech delayed/minimally speaking is highly valued.
We value long-term relationships and are looking for someone who will become a trusted and consistent part of our children’s lives. Flexibility is important, as needs may vary week to week, and the ability to step in on school closure days is especially helpful.
Our Ideal Candidate Is:
- Dynamic, dependable, communicative, and punctual, with a genuine love for children.
- Playful and highly engaging — happy to run, play, and talk with our son even if he doesn’t always respond — yet calm and steady when routines or emotions feel challenging.
- Patient and calm - especially when helping navigate transitions and sensitivities.
- You must be comfortable supporting a child who is not yet potty trained, actively working on potty training with patience and consistency while also handling accidents and clean-up as needed.
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle schedules, calendars, appointments, and household logistics with accuracy and follow-through.
- Proactive, punctual, and dependable, ensuring daily routines — from coordinating with other household providers to preparing simple meals — run smoothly and consistently.
- Comfortable communicating with and collaborating with parents and therapists/a medical support team (as needed)
- Experienced with children who have special needs, particularly autism or speech delays. A background in child development, ABA, or speech therapy support is a strong plus.
