Sign and Graphics Production Designer/Drafter

RS Industrial Arts collaborates with Architects, Design Firms, General Contractors, and other industry front-runners to plan, build, and implement custom architectural signage, environmental graphics, and branding solutions for a wide variety of projects that include interior and exterior building graphics, site and parking garage signage as well as custom architectural elements, specialized landscape features, and unique sculpture. We are currently seeking to add a Production Designer/Drafter to our team.

The successful candidate will:

Interpret design intent packages and produce fabrication drawings for manufacturing.

Prepare artwork and digital files for production.

Calculate takeoffs and prepare bills of materials.

Execute quality reviews in various stages of our workflow.

Perform other tasks in the Design and Graphics Department as assigned.

and possess:

Experience with CorelDraw.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite as well as standard Office software.

Experience designing sign cabinet structures and framing.

Knowledge of technical drawing conventions and symbols.

Knowledge of design principles, typography, and color theory.

Knowledge of materials including acrylic and aluminum.

Understanding of fabrication methods and processes.

Ability to read architectural plans and construction documentation.

Basic knowledge of signage regulations established by the ADA 2010, IBC, IFC, and local codes.

A 2-Year college degree or equivalent certification.

Experience with a signage manufacturer, environmental graphics firm, or similar trade.

Other valued skills and experience:

AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp

CNC Routing and toolpath strategy

Large Format Printing and Prepress/Preflight Processes

Screen printing; color matching

We work in a Windows-Based Environment.

This is a full time, in-house position and is benefits eligible after a 90-day review.

Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

THIS IS NOT A GRAPHIC DESIGN POSITION. The successful candidate will create shop drawings and technical detailing, based on design intent packages, for our manufacturing team to fabricate various types of aluminum and steel signage and graphic elements.
