Purpose: This position is primarily responsible for identifying, marking, assembling, and packing the needed material for a customer order (Job) into the appropriate containment.
General Duties:
1. Prepares products or materials for shipment. Assembles wooden or cardboard shipping containers or selects pre-assembled containers per customer specifications.
2. Read packing package and locate products or assembled unit(s), and evaluate all shipping materials for damages or defects.
3. Efficiently pulls customer orders or shipment ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and packed.
4. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with company personnel, vendors, sales, service delivery, and engineering personnel.
5. Responsible for safe, secure, and accurate filling of customer orders and ensuring that orders arrive at the delivery platform complete and on time.
6. Uses knowledge and experience to resolve basic operating problems; reports other problems to supervisor.
7. Packer may periodically be rotated within the department or to another production according to the company needs and packers capabilities. Assist with various warehouse operations as needed.
8. Use hand and power tools to form shipping container according to blueprints or other specifications.
9. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
10. Perform clerical duties involved in the shipping of materials and other duties as assigned.
11. Operates tier-lift truck (if licensed) or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Operates several different air tools, electric cranes, and forklifts to pack the heavier parts and assembled units.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
1. High school diploma.
2. 1-2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Experience in the industry in order to conform to regulations or use specialized equipment.
4. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; maintains a clean and organized work environment; capable of meeting productivity standards.
5. Good attention to detail (able to see details at close range); good interpersonal and communication skills; willingness to assume ownership and responsibility; able to work in an exceptionally fast-paced day to day environment; thrive on new challenges; must be pro-active and very responsive to customer needs.
6. Able to work from verbal and written instructions; perform basic math and understand units of measure; ability to read CAD drawings, blueprints, and or manufacturing orders for operating parameters.
7. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50lbs.
