Systems Support Specialist (Houston/Galleria)
This position will start as part-time (20 Hrs per week) but is likely to grow into a full-time position based on workload. Come grow with a growing company. Salary commensurate with experience, however successful candidate can expect between $15 and $20 per hour starting pay, plus commissions on hardware sales. Position is entry level, but experience and interest in the field is a plus. Looking for self-starting go-getters, previous experience in sales and customer acquisition is a plus. We will train, but a basic foundation is a must. Depending on capabilities and workload, successful candidate may need to be able to to flex to full-time status as needed.
Job Description:
Good analytical and problem-solving skills are essential on the help desk. Technicians handle support requests by telephone or e-mail. Discuss issues with users and ask a logical sequence of questions to diagnose the problem and offer a solution. Must have good interpersonal skills to deal with users who may have little technical knowledge and may be inconvenienced and frustrated by their computer problems.
Duties:
Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
Provide Point-of-Sale register support assistance to end user retail customers
Respond to queries either in person or over the phone.
Write training manuals.
Train computer users.
Maintain daily performance of computer systems.
Respond to email messages for customers seeking help.
Ask questions to determine nature of problem.
Walk customer through problem-solving process.
Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software.
Clean up computers.
Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.
Install computer peripherals for users.
Follow up with customers to ensure issue has been resolved.
Run reports to determine malfunctions that continues to occur.
Minimum Requirements:
At Least 1 year Desktop support experience
At least 6 months experience with windows server technologies
At least 1 year experience troubleshooting network hardware
At least 1 year structured cabling experience preferred
Experience with Help Desk software
Experience assembling computer hardware
Must have reliable transportation, travel may be required
Website design experience is a plus
Software preferences:
Windows Server 2008-2019, Terminal Services, Active Directory Users and Computers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows, Sage 50 Accounting, QuickBooks, Office 365, Point-of-sale software and help desk tools experience is a plus!
