Drafting Engineer – Furniture & Architectural Millwork at HTX Made
Location: Houston, TX
Position: Full-Time, Drafting Engineer (Mid or Senior Level)
HTX Made is a custom furniture and architectural millwork company for both residential and commercial clients. We manufacture everything from our workshop in Houston. We’re looking for a skilled Drafting Engineer to join our team.
What You'll Be Doing:
Create Detailed Technical Drawings: Produce 2D and 3D technical drawings for custom furniture and architectural millwork elements. Our project development process requires pre-construction meetings to ensure that the production approach to a given project is in harmony with the client's requirements and our workshop's capabilities. We prefer to work with Fusion 360, though are open to other programs.
Manage Projects: Collaborate with our clients and craftsmen to ensure the smooth flow of projects from initial design to completion. You are expected to create documentation alongside CAD models that will assist other teams with processing the job through procurement, production, and installation. At the conclusion of a project, we review the drawings and experiences of our team to make improvements for the future.
Prototype & Innovate: Not just drafting — bring your creativity to life. We have certain established building standards and design practices for a reason, though it's important to test those standards where it may be an appropriate risk. We want you to feel free to innovate and propose new details where you see an opportunity, especially when it will make another team member's job easier or delight the customer.
Support Production: Ready to jump in when production challenges arise. From troubleshooting to revising designs for manufacturability, your flexibility is key. Additionally, it is often important for the engineer to visit the job site to understand site conditions and take the field measurements so that the design is compatible.
Stay Detail-Oriented: Maintain strict attention to details and follow up on the details and questions that remain. Lacking a thoughtful plan is the primary cause of underperformance and nearly everything we do at HTX Made could be improved with more thoughtful planning up front. Think about who will receive your drawings and what information they really need in order to build and to ensure the client's expectations are met or exceeded.
What We Need from You:
Proficiency in 3D modeling (Fusion 360 is ideal.) and MS Excel.
Valid Driver's License
Competitive Pay & Benefits: We value your skills and experience and offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
Room for Growth: As a growing company, we offer opportunities for advancement and personal growth within the team.
We look forward to meeting you! Please respond to this post to be considered for the position. If you have photos of copies of your work, as well as a resume, please attach them.
