Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician position is characterized as an integral part of the daily operations of the facilities department as well as the agency. As the first point of contact for the facility department work in the field, this individual sets the tone for a positive and effective encounter for facilities services. This supports our core values by being responsive to our client’s request and needs. The position also responds to the ever-changing needs of the agency and facilities department. This individual works respectively with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.

Follows specific verbal and written commands to complete special projects as assigned and directed by management.

Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned

Responds to facility related issues and emergencies as directed to assist as needed.

Understands and assists with the implementation of a systems approach in the provision of services delivered by the Facilities Management Department.

Maintain inventory for cost effective operations

Diagnose and repair electrical systems including but not limited to LED, incandescent, or fluorescent lighting, ballasts, as well as working on outlets, motors, etc.

Respond to and diagnose HVAC, heating, and ventilation

Door repair and adjustments. Replace door hardware

General carpentry, painting, and drywall repair and installation

General skills in plumbing to clean drains and replace parts within the system

Assist with projects and events setup involving tents

Build furniture and complete employee moves

Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.

Normal daily work schedules will be established by management and may be adjusted with notice of less than 1 hour as necessary to accommodate the needs of the agency. This may require the employee to work more than eight hours in a day or 40 hours in a week both in the evenings and / or on weekends as needed to support the functions of the dept.

Facilities Personnel are considered essential staff which requires them to report to work in all emergencies to assist as needed, regardless of what the rest of the agency is doing or being told.

Complete paperwork using computer and software web-based programs

Have general knowledge of Microsoft Office

Be able to work with little or know supervision

This position will be on call to respond to facility emergencies 24 hours a day / 7 days a week unless on approved vacation. The employee will be given a cell phone allowance for this purpose and must reply to emergency calls within 15 minutes of the initial call.
