This position is responsible for dealing effectively with clients and overseeing surveying project efforts related to surveying earth’s surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, land division, titles or other purposes. Responsible to carry out in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities also include performing calculations, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The core hours are from 7:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday. This is a full time position with an exempt (salary) classification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assesses project related surveying standards and requirements; establishes survey procedures, scope of work and timeframes.

• Works closely with RCS Team to ensure timely delivery of projects.

• Manages day-to-day operation aspects of a surveying project and scope.

• Reviews deliverables prepared by RCS TEAM for accuracy before passing to client.

• Effectively applies RCS methodology and enforces project standards.

• Minimizes RCS exposure and risk on projects.

• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

• Supervises assigned staff; prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; counsels, evaluates, coaches, trains and instructs employees as required.

• Ensures a teamwork / mutual support atmosphere.

• Be a liaison and maintain relations with client’s project managers.

• Prepares and/or reviews survey proposals.

• Prepares and maintains project budget and deadlines.

• Makes sure out-of-scope work is identified and is approved by the client before incurring any out-of-scope expense.

• Prepares and/or reviews calculations including heights, depths, relative positions, property lines and other characteristics of terrain.

• Conducts search of legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.

• Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using robotic total stations, theodolites, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).

• Establishes and computes Traverse Adjustment routines with conventional and GPS traverses.

• Performs various duties to ensure jobs are completed timely, including but not limited to field work, drafting, research, and review of work for accuracy.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, general public and supply vendors.

• Performs drafting of deeds, plot maps, sketches, field notes, etc.

• Coordinates and trains drafting technicians to ensure efficiency in department.

• Oversees survey and drafting departments for efficiency and consistency of all work flow processes. Makes recommendations for training, hiring, and conducts annual employee reviews of survey and drafting technicians.

Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

• Must have knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of surveying including boundary determination, mapping, construction staking, and ALTA surveys.

• Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative management, including budgeting, employee supervision and training.

• Must have skill in operating a personal computer and a variety of software applications including drafting, word processing, spreadsheets and database software.

• Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.

• Work requires continual attention to detail in project management, analytical skills, complex problem solving skills, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

• Must have experience with UAV Drones and processing data.

While performing the duties of this position, the Employee is regularly required to sit and perform repetitive movement. May be required to lift and carry items less than 60 pounds and be exposed to extreme weather conditions and potential physical harm. Verbal and written communication is required.

Additional Requirements: May require the use of personal or company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for company business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a company vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

• Six (6) years of professional experience in surveying, including

two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.

• Licensed Land Surveyor with the State of Texas.

• Possession of a valid State of Texas driver’s license and clear driving record.

• Related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, or a related field. Years of experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
