The mechanics helper is responsible for making minor repairs to mowing/construction equipment, to include both gas and diesel engines. Requires knowledge of engine repair and basic preventative maintenance: oil changes, filter changes, transmission oil changes, basic tune ups, etc.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and service on company vehicles and a variety of landscape power equipment.
At least 2 years working in a mechanic shop as a helper or apprentice.
Verifies vehicle service ability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Diagnose and repairs mechanical defects in motorized power equipment.
Drive vehicles in and out of shop for repairs.
Drivers MUST be at least 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
Maintain documented records of equipment repairs and services.
Maintain inventory and stock of spare parts in the shop.
Perform routine and non-routine tasks in maintenance of servicing motorized equipment.
Clean and Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
Tools, Uniforms & PPE Provided.
Qualifications:
Good attendance and punctuality.
Mechanical aptitude.
Valid Texas Drivers license (Class C)
At least 21 years of age.
Able to follow instruction from Chief Mechanic.
Able to work alone and exceed deadlines.
Knowledge of proper tool usage, detail oriented, etc.
Good communications skills.
Able to lift at least 50 Lbs.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Bilingual is a plus, not required.
This person will also assist in maintaining the shop grounds.
