If so, please consider applying.We are looking for a senior business strategy and technical leader to help the Manufacturing & Supply Chain team manage this transformation for our customers.As the Business Strategy Director, you will lead a seasoned team of industry professionals to shape industry strategies and deep partnerships that empower digital transformation across discrete and process manufacturing companies, as well as all industry verticals that have a supply chain requirement, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, downstream oil & gas, defense and other. In addition, you will lead the incubation strategy for emerging verticals including agribusiness and smart places.With a deep understanding of the Manufacturing & Supply Chain industry challenges, customer requirements, and competitive landscape, this role is expected to contribute to all levels of the Manufacturing & Supply Chain strategy, covering all 3 horizons from short to long-term, including analysis of business and technical capabilities as well as the development of frameworks and best practices that will scale across Microsoft’s largest accounts. This includes managing across functional teams, including engineering, sales leaders and industry partners to generate industry solution opportunities and deliver growth of Microsoft cloud services—as well as other advanced technologies including AI, cognitive services, mixed reality, robotics, digital twins, blockchain and others. The role requires embracing the impact of disruptive technologies and developing next generation winning and growth strategies for our customers with manufacturing and supply chains operations, investments, and resources.The Business Strategy Senior Director will develop recommendations on how to accelerate our Manufacturing & Supply Chain strategy, including analysis of build, partner and buy opportunities and other strategic investment proposals that will inspire senior leaders to invest in the strategy.The ability to hold others accountable and demonstrate impact and influence without direct control while maintaining excellent cross-boundary collaboration are critical success factors for the role. This role does not own resources in the field, but given their span of influence, experience and seniority, the field, partner, business development and engineering will look to this leader for thought leadership and insights on the strategy and solutions for our Manufacturing & Supply Chain customers and partners.ResponsibilitiesStrategy Development & Evolution: Combine your deep knowledge of the Manufacturing industry with Microsoft platform expertise to create a multi-year strategy, inclusive of product roadmap, partner plans, business development, in partnership with Engineering, Product Marketing, Services, Partner teams and other Microsoft teams. This business plan will provide a roadmap of how to grow Microsoft’s share across Manufacturing verticals with a focus on the adoption and consumption of Microsoft Industry solutions.

Serve as a trusted advisor to Microsoft’s top accounts: You will enhance client awareness of Microsoft as a solution provider and transformation enabler beyond traditional client-side IT decision makers, and re-position market perception of Microsoft as a trusted partner for digital transformation with business decision makers, CxO’s and boards of directors.

Rally the partner ecosystem: Further the One Microsoft Manufacturing & Supply Chain Strategy with energy and clarity around top tier partners, disruptive ISVs and early recruits to the Microsoft Cloud for Manufacturing.

Deliver thought leadership globally: Represent Microsoft at key industry events, Microsoft external events such as Hannover Messe, and at the Executive Briefing Center and more. Author blogs, white papers, etc. and leverage social media and networks to promote Microsoft’s leadership in the industry.

Lead Change Management Efforts: Partner with Manufacturing & Supply Chain team leaders and the broader Enterprise Commercial leadership team to define and drive internal change management efforts, including prioritizing and implementing new solutions, collaboratively establishing strategy, driving sales and partner ecosystem scale, and engaging with other key leaders to deeply embed industry plans.

Closed Feedback Loop: Facilitation and delivery of closed feedback loops with key executive sponsors and cross-organizational partners including Commercial Solution Areas, Customer Experience & Success, Engineering, Product & Industry Marketing, Global Partner Solutions (GPS), Strategic Partnerships Team, Customer Transformation & Innovation, Leading Edge Delivery Teams, Commercial Software Engineering, the Digital Advisor team, Microsoft Consulting Services, among others, to ensure constant evolution of the strategy and offerings.

Control and Monitor Results: Analyze market share gains, sales outcomes, customer feedback and other key metrics to assess the health and progress of the Manufacturing & Supply Chain strategy and its ability to drive sustainable revenue and consumption growth.

Leadership and Management: Provide strong operational leadership and create the most efficient and effective organizational structure and disciplined operational process for the Manufacturing & Supply Chain strategy team. Activate current talent and recruit to develop a high-performing team that is well-aligned with the business strategy moving forward.

QualificationsMinimum 15 years of experience in a combination of strategy, management consulting, technology & marketing roles within the Manufacturing & Supply Chain

Established Manufacturing & Supply Chain experience, expertise, and credentials with customer line-of-business needs and deep industry solution technical expertise.

Knowledge of the Microsoft Enterprise Platform, or at least of all disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, mixed reality, etc. and the ability to map relevant technologies to customers’ IT and business needs and priorities.

In-depth understanding of the partner ecosystems (including Tier 1s, ISVs, SIs) related to Manufacturing & Supply Chain and the ability to identify leading solution vendors or systems integrators with relevant repeatable solutions or domain practices.

Deep understanding of the industry competitive landscape and be able to translate Microsoft’s value proposition to drive global compete strategies.

Understand, and have experience with the application of cloud-based technologies in a Manufacturing & Supply Chain environment.

Proven ability to work across engineering and sales and marketing teams.

Proven capabilities of exemplary impact through cross-group collaboration and partnerships.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar information technology-related, or engineering discipline degree required. Master's degree preferred.

The base salary for this role in the STATE OF COLORADO is between $175,000 and 297,000.At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
