Position Summary: The Communications Manager is a critical part of the Development Fund Raising team of the South Plains Food Bank. The position is responsible for production content creation and maintenance of the non-profits websites and social media. The position is the first line of contact for all media relationships so it requires someone with an outgoing personality, friendly demeanor, and a professional approach with these relationships. The position also work with the non-profits email and direct mail donor data base for coordination and execution of fund raising campaigns and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Integrate Food Bank online communications action plans to promote the goals and initiatives of the organization.

Oversee the organizations websites, emails platforms, and relevant social media platforms.

Design, update, and create program awareness handouts, event invitations and other graphic design needs of the Food Bank.

Contribute to overall team efforts by meeting deadlines and insuring that the Food Bank is represented in a positive manner.

Monitor social media trends and placement for effectiveness. Use media analytics to optimize use of communication resources.

Be the media contact for press releases and conferences to assure that the Food Bank programs are seen as critical to the community.

Coordinate with the Food Banks direct mail team to produce digital & print content.

Writing the content for the quarterly newsletter and other writing assignments as needed.

Assure that brandĀ and message consistency is maintained across all department and Food Bank communication platforms.

Participate in all aspects of the Food Bank fund raising which include some evening and Saturday events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

A bachelors degree or the equivalent background in marketing, graphic design, and/or communications/PR.

Experience with website and multimedia development and maintenance including but not limited to: video capture, editing and photography. Proficient in all adobe platforms. WordPress is a plus.

Experience working with media and other public relations outlets.

Must be able to project a friendly inviting personality along with the communication skills that will engage any potential relationship working or funding any sort of Food Bank project.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain an organized project schedule.

Must be a team player and be able to adapt to changes within the development calendar and events.

Must be comfortable speaking to media, groups visiting, fund raising events, volunteers, and staff members about development programs and Food Bank operations.

Must be able to physically accomplish the tasks related to the job which can involve some lifting up to 20 pounds, working outside despite inclement weather, and working with media equipment under various conditions.

Some evening and weekend hours required.

Must pass a background check and provide professional references.
