We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsProvides and manages nursing care to patients in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary health team. As medically indicated provides age appropriate, cluster care to premature infants in a minimal stimulation environment. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates all assigned patient care based on the developmental, physical, and psycho-social needs of each patient. Is accountable for patient care given by him/her and by those under his/her supervision. Is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing practice. Is responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care/treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient. Performs additional tasks/activities as assigned.What you will do in this role:
Demonstrates competency utilizing the nursing process in the neonatal and pediatric population. Documentation/practice consistently demonstrates application of the nursing process
Attends deliveries and performs neonatal resuscitation based on level of experience
Knows most frequently used medications including appropriate means of administration, drug interactions, recognition of contraindications, side effects and calculations. Utilizes the 5 rights of medication administration
Demonstrates competency in assessing, and managing all venous access devices and IV therapy
Demonstrates competency in assessment, intervention and evaluation of neonatal and pediatric pain
Demonstrates/verbalizes role/responsibility in an emergency situation
Demonstrates appropriate delegation to other members of the healthcare team
Provides age appropriate care to all patient populations for which staff member is responsible and trained for
Makes assignments based on patient acuity/intensity and skill level of all staff
Functions as a resource to all staff; effective problem solver; demonstrates appropriate decision-making skills
Attends and participates in unit staff meetings
Competent in meeting the complex needs of neonatal patients
Accountable for consistent, safe, high quality care of the critically ill neonate
Assist in team leader rotation based on level of experience
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Bachelors of Science in Nursing is required or must be currently enrolled
Current RN license in Texas and/or current Compact License
Current BCLS certification required.
NRP certification within 90 days of hire.
STABLE preferred
1 year of current NICU experience required or you will go through a training program, if one is available
