Resort Animal Caretaker

Edinburg Pet Resort facility is calling on those who want to work in the pet industry and have the motivation and desire to gain experience working with animals. We are looking for 2 caretakers that are passionate about working with various breeds of dogs and cats. We are focusing on independent, fun, and caring personnel which will provide the proper nutrition and maintain a safe and sterile environment for all resort tenants.
Wage will be $8.00 per hour after successfully completing apprenticeship. Our employees then go through a wage path which increases the hourly wage by 50 cents bi-annually in the first year.
Qualified applicants must consider that this position involves medium to heavy physical effort. Additionally, all work duties will be conducted both inside and outside the facility and the Resort Caretaker will continually be exposed to outdoor elements, excessive noise, dust, hair, dirt, and disagreeable odors associated with animal waste.

Duties:
- Prepare feeding menus, provide water, and administer medication, if any, to all animals staying at the resort.
- Provide daily walks for all dogs several times during the assigned shift.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize all living spaces of animals according to resort standards.
- Gather saliva, urine, vomit, hair, and stool on a constant basis and immediately remove from facility.
- Sweep, mop, empty trash cans, and clean windows of entire facility including restroom and utility room.
- Pick up stool in break areas outside the facility.
- Clean, maintain, and organize all resort equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Wash, dry, and organize all feeding bowls.
- Organize and clean all workspace areas in feed room.
- Wash and dry all linens, beddings, and toys soiled and used by animals staying at resort.
- Update all required log books and whiteboards.
- Transfer animals between quarters and/or living spaces.
- Monitor and observe all animals continuously for any changes in diet, physical condition, and behavior.
- Report all observations, injuries and incidents immediately.
- Performing ALL other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be a minimum 18 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have excellent communication skills in the English language.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation.
- Must have excellent knowledge of math and common computer programs.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must have a strong desire and ambition to work with animals.
- Must maintain a positive attitude and demeanor when exposed to unpleasant and emotionally distressing situations. The maintenance of composure is highly desired.
- Must not be afraid to get bitten, scratched, bruised, or kicked by aggressive large and small breed animals.
- Must be able to stand for a long period of time.
- Must be able to lift 80 pounds at a height of 3-4 feet onto a counter.
- Must have sufficient strength and full range of motion of both arms and shoulders and the manipulative dexterity of the hands in order to properly handle and control large breed animals weighing over 100 pounds.
- Must be able to walk a minimum of 4 miles per 4-hour work shift.
- Must be able to maintain a kneeling position repeatedly in order to perform work related tasks on ground level surfaces.
