Onin Staffing is currently recruiting for experienced Sewing Machine Operators for a large manufacturing facility in the greater McAllen area.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sew all parts within the timeline set and to customer satisfaction, while using a variety of sewing tools and equipment.
- Select the equipment necessary for the sewing process including setting up the machine and the peripherals.
- Properly use sewing tools, which includes scissors, seam rippers and measuring devices.
- Pay attention to details throughout all stages of work to meet quality objectives and to eliminate scrap (waste), quality non-compliance and the need for rework.
- Monitor machine operation and inspect the product after it has been finished.
- Adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
- Be constantly conscientious about workplace safety; observing all of the company rules and safety practices.
- Adhere to all the company policies and procedures.
- Check your own work, ensure all aspects of the sewing task are complete and correct.
- Provide team with sufficient information and support to accomplish team goals.
- Maintain an organized and clean workstation and work to help maintain the rest of the facility organized and clean as well; leaving each area better than it was found.
- Understand that all team members will need to pitch in, in other areas, as needed to help meet our goals and get excited to do so.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating a sewing machine, preferably in an industrial environment.
- 1-2 years of recent work experience on industrial sewing machines (single or double needle) is a plus.
- Familiar with seam allowances
- Capable of construction with a sample for a guide.
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to accurately measure, read a ruler and use a calculator.
- Perform basic shop math calculations (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, measuring and converting decimals)
- Experience with a multi-needle embroidery machine desirable, but not required.
